Honors College Thesis Support Navigator

This recruitment will be used to fill one (1) part-time (a maximum of 24 hours per week) Thesis Support Navigator for the Honors College at Oregon State University (OSU). The Honors College is hiring a part-time Thesis Support Navigator for the 2026–2027 academic year, with a few weeks to train this term. This paid position supports current Honors College students as they navigate the thesis process, offering peer guidance, resource referrals, and collaborative planning.

In this position, students learn and build vital career-readiness skills in the primary areas below: Communication, Leadership, Professionalism, and Career & Self-Development.

Position Duties:

  • Communication: Coordinate meetings with students and maintain clear documentation of interactions. Engage in group and individual meetings with the supervisor to share updates and insights. Respond to student questions with clarity, empathy, and accuracy.
  • Leadership: Serve as a peer mentor by guiding students through the thesis process and modeling confidence and initiative. Plan and manage individual student support sessions, adapting to diverse needs and learning styles. Contribute to the development of resources and strategies that improve the thesis experience.
  • Professionalism: Demonstrate reliability, flexibility, and attention to detail in all aspects of the role. Represent the Honors College professionally in all student interactions. Adhere to Honors College dress code and professional expectations during shifts and events.
  • Career & Self-Development: Attend ongoing training and professional development sessions to enhance effectiveness. Reflect on personal strengths and areas for growth through regular check-ins and feedback. Pursue opportunities to improve mentoring and communication skills. Build relationships with Honors College staff and peers to support long-term academic and professional goals.

Additional Opportunities (as qualified/interested): Provide tutoring and student support services. Attend on and off-campus recruitment, alumni, networking, and engagement events. Engage in professional development and training sessions to enhance career and self-development. Front desk coverage. Other duties as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Must be academically enrolled in a high school, community college, or university and pursuing a program or course of study.
  • Must meet Academic Standing Requirements; students on academic suspension are not eligible for employment.
  • Must meet the applicable minimal enrollment standard.

Additional Required Qualifications:

  • Must be an active Honors College student in Spring 2026.
  • Must have a Thesis Mentor.
  • Must be available for a minimum of 6 hours per week during the academic term.
  • Must meet OSU student employment eligibility requirements.
  • Must be organized, personable, and dependable.
