Simulator Engineer
System One is seeking a skilled Simulator Engineer for a direct hire opportunity supporting a client in the nuclear industry. The ideal candidate will help develop and maintain software models that support a full-scope control room simulator. This role involves close collaboration with operators and engineers to translate engineering documentation into accurate, high-performing plant models.
Key Responsibilities:
- Accurately incorporate engineering documentation into simulator plant models.
- Support development, testing, and operation of the control room simulator and related software projects.
- Develop software in accordance with established procedures and processes to ensure configuration control.
- Document software defects, propose solutions, and identify common cause issues affecting performance.
- Provide technical recommendations that align with operational principles and project objectives.
- Collaborate with team members to deliver high-quality solutions and achieve long-term goals.
- Perform limited hardware setup and maintenance, including installing computers/monitors and connecting cables (occasional travel required).
- Perform other engineering and simulation-related duties as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications:
- B.S. in Computer Science, Physics, Engineering, or related technical field.
- Minimum 5 years of professional software development experience, including at least 3 years focused on modeling or simulator development.
- Proficiency with Fortran, C++, and/or Python.
- Experience with GSE simulation software.
- Experience with version control and integrated development environments.
- Familiarity with project management systems.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Experience with thermal hydraulic system codes.
- Experience with neutronic analysis codes.
- Understanding of thermal hydraulic principles and numerical methods.
- Ability to interpret P&ID drawings.
- Knowledge of electrical systems.
- Experience with formal simulator testing procedures.
Other Requirements:
- Must be eligible to work under Department of Energy 10 CFR Part 810.
- Ability to learn new job functions quickly and adapt to evolving project needs.
- Ability to sit, stand, and use standard office equipment for extended periods; occasional lifting up to 25 lbs.
- Some travel may be required.
