Actalent is seeking to hire an Electrical Engineering Director, who will manage and oversee electrical engineering projects from inception to completion, collaborating closely with the Project Manager and other team members to ensure project success. You will be responsible for producing and reviewing drawing sets, stamping others' work, and coordinating with utilities to upgrade services to the site, including switchgears and transformers. Your role will involve conducting power system modeling using SKM, Easypower, and ETAP, performing flash studies, relay coordination, and preparing detailed reports. You will work with electricians on start-up projects, conduct site visits for load studies and upgrades, and ensure compliance with industry standards and regulations. Responsibilities include managing and overseeing electrical engineering projects from start to finish, producing and reviewing drawing sets and stamping others' work, coordinating with utilities to upgrade site services, including switchgears and transformers, conducting power system modeling using SKM, Easypower, and ETAP, performing flash studies and relay coordination, preparing detailed reports and documentation, collaborating with electricians on start-up projects and conducting site visits for load studies and upgrades, ensuring compliance with industry standards and regulations, completing medium and low voltage electrical engineering calculations and documentation packages, applying extensive knowledge of relevant codes such as NFPA 70, 70E, 30, 58, and 497, NEMA, API 500 & 540, IEEE, coordinating project deliverables, deadlines, and interdisciplinary needs among the engineering team, collaborating with electrical designers to develop and check various plans and diagrams, communicating with clients and electrical utilities regarding new or upgraded service installations, coordinating with mechanical, civil, process, and structural engineers to identify potential conflicts and efficiencies, supporting business development opportunities and assisting in marketing efforts, including proposal preparation, scope, and budget, performing contractor construction submittal reviews and coordinating with equipment vendors to review and approve specifications, and traveling within the United States 15% to 20% for site investigations, design reviews, and construction support.
Essential Skills include a Professional Engineer (PE) license via NCEES, extensive experience in power systems, particularly 15kV and lower, with a focus on 600V and lower, experience in bringing utility voltage down to transformers, proficiency in power system modeling software (SKM, Easypower, ETAP), experience in design and review of electrical systems, strong knowledge of electrical equipment and breakers, and 10+ years of experience in industrial market sector projects, including project development from concept to completion, estimating, start-up, and commissioning. Additional Skills & Qualifications include experience in the pulp and paper industry, familiarity with overhead utility systems, and previous experience working with power distribution systems.
Job Type & Location: This is a permanent position based out of Portland, OR. Pay and Benefits: The pay range for this position is $145000.00 - $180000.00/yr.
