We are seeking an experienced Principal Designer specializing in the design, development, and optimization of Indium Phosphide (InP)-based photodiodes and photonic integrated circuits (PICs). The ideal candidate will play a pivotal role in defining and executing advanced optoelectronic device architectures for next-generation optical communication systems and integrated photonic platforms.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead the design and simulation of InP-based photodiodes (APDs, PINs) and PICs for high-speed optical communication applications.
  • Drive end-to-end development from device concept through layout, fabrication process definition, packaging considerations, and full electrical/optical characterization.
  • Collaborate with foundries and internal process teams to define and validate fabrication process flows tailored to PD and PIC performance targets.
  • Own and manage the design verification, tolerance analysis, and performance optimization using industry-standard simulation tools (e.g., Lumerical, R-soft, Ansys).
  • Work closely with systems, packaging, reliability, and test engineering teams to ensure product integration readiness and reliability compliance.
  • Provide technical leadership and mentorship to junior engineers and designers.
  • Contribute to intellectual property development, including patents and technical publications.
  • Stay abreast of emerging InP material systems, novel device structures, and competitive photonic integration technologies.
