Position Overview
We are seeking a highly experienced and motivated Optical Engineer to join our R&D team. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in optical engineering or physics, with extensive experience in the optical communication industry. This role focuses on the research, design, and development of advanced optical components and modules, requiring both deep technical expertise and strong problem-solving skills.
Key Responsibilities
• Lead and contribute to the research, design, and development of optical components and modules for communication systems.
• Apply in-depth knowledge of free-space optics and waveguide optics to design and optimize optical architectures.
• Design, analyze, and evaluate fundamental optical elements including couplers, filters, reflectors, WDMs, and related devices.
• Drive the end-to-end product development process, from concept through EVT (Engineering Validation Test), DVT (Design Validation Test), and production validation.
• Conduct rigorous data analysis, experimental validation, and characterization of optical systems and components.
• Utilize problem-solving methodologies such as distribution analysis, fishbone diagrams, and 5-Why failure analysis to address design and production issues.
• Collaborate cross-functionally with mechanical, electrical, and manufacturing teams to ensure seamless product integration.
• Stay current with industry trends and contribute to innovation and IP development within the company.
Qualifications
• Education: Master's degree or above in Optical Engineering, Physics, or a related field.
• Technical Expertise: Deep understanding of free-space optics and waveguide optics. Strong hands-on experience with optical elements (couplers, filters, reflectors, WDM, etc.). Proficiency in optical system simulation, modeling, and characterization tools. Expertise in product development processes including EVT, DVT, and validation.
• Problem-Solving Skills: Skilled in data-driven analysis and failure investigation using methods such as fishbone diagrams and 5-Why analysis.
• Soft Skills: Strong communication, leadership, and cross-functional collaboration abilities. Good English communication skill and written skill. Candidate with less experience will be considered for the post of Senior Engineer.
Preferred Qualifications
• Experience working in high-volume product development environments. Demonstrated ability to mentor junior engineers and lead technical projects. Knowledge of manufacturing processes for optical components and modules.
