Open Sky Community Services provides a range of innovative, specialized programming for young adults and transition-age youth. With a focus on evidence-based practices such as Peer Support and Supported Employment, our young adult and transition-age youth services help young adults to develop the skills and resiliency to achieve their life, educational and career goals, even during times of stress. Our commitment to the use of evidence-based treatments and age-appropriate wraparound services assists young children and adolescents to move beyond their social-emotional, behavioral, or psychiatric challenges and return successfully to their homes, schools and the community.
The Occupational Therapist will provide support to two programs within the division, Ives House and Flex Support Services. Ives House, a residential group care setting, provides comprehensive treatment for 9 youth (males and females), ages 14 through 20, many of whom have a history of psychiatric hospitalizations. Youth are referred by the Department of Mental Health and attend community schools. The goal is to work collaboratively with the youth and the family to enhance personal, social, and independent living to prepare for family reunification or a transition to independent living. Flex Support Services, a community based program, assists youth between the ages of 8 and 21, along with their families, who are DMH eligible and referred, that live in Central Massachusetts or the Northeast Suburban region. The programs goal is to develop skills, strategies and supports to sustain the youth in the family's natural environment, and to help the youth successfully function in the community. As the Occupational Therapist, you will contribute to the evaluation process by implementing delegated assessments and providing verbal and written reports of observation, provide therapeutic interventions to youth and families in both individual and group settings and collaborate with the youth and families to develop a comprehensive Occupational Therapy treatment plan.
