✨ About The Role
- Design, build, and maintain foundational data infrastructure systems like distributed compute, data orchestration, distributed storage, and streaming infrastructure
- Ensure scalability, reliability, and security of the data platform to support the next several orders of magnitude growth
- Collaborate with product engineers, trust & safety, and other teams to bring new features and capabilities to the world
- Responsible for the reliability of the systems built, including participating in an on-call rotation to respond to critical incidents as needed
- Partner with various teams to build technical foundations that align with OpenAI's mission of ensuring that general-purpose artificial intelligence benefits all of humanity
âš¡ Requirements
- Experienced data infrastructure engineer with at least 4 years of relevant experience in building and operating scalable, reliable, and secure systems
- Comfortable working with technologies such as Apache Spark, Python, Terraform, Kafka, Azure EventHub, and Vector DBs
- Thrives in a fast-paced environment with ambiguity and rapid changes, demonstrating a strong desire to learn and share knowledge with others
- Enjoys empowering fellow engineers and teammates with excellent data tooling and systems to accelerate company productivity
- Strong problem-solving skills and ability to diagnose and resolve critical incidents as part of an on-call rotation
