Summary

The System Service Representative is responsible for completing service orders involving the disconnection, reconnection, installation, reading, and investigation of meters and/or service at residential, commercial, and industrial premises. This role requires advanced skills in cutting or reconnecting electric service at a weatherhead, pole, handhole, transformer, or line fuse link/disconnect. Orders may require pole climbing or the use of a bucket truck. All orders must be completed safely and within prescribed timeframes, ensuring proper delivery and measurement of electric energy.

Key Roles & Responsibilities

  • Use proper test equipment to determine voltage levels and guard against faulty or hazardous conditions.
  • Disconnect and reconnect service using advanced skills at the meter, weatherhead, handhole, pole, transformer, or fuse link/disconnect for installations less than 600 volts.
  • Ensure service orders are completed within specified timeframes across a diverse geographic area while adhering to company safety rules and regulations.
  • Operate a bucket truck and perform pole-climbing activities.
  • Evaluate premises for proper metering and service delivery and identify and investigate any diversion of energy due to improper or faulty wiring or metering.
  • Perform all essential job functions, as well as any other assigned duties.

Skills

  • Certification in the use of volt, ohm, and amp meters, as well as load and fault devices, is encouraged.
  • Basic Computer skills.
  • Strong interpersonal and teamwork skills.

Education & Experience

  • High school diploma, GED, or equivalent is required.
  • A valid Texas driver's license is required.
  • Experience as an Electric Field Service Representative is encouraged to apply.

System Service Representative Level Requirements

  • System Service Rep I – Successful completion of the Measurement Services System Service Representative Senior Training Program is required.
  • System Service Rep II – Successful completion of the Measurement Services System Service Representative Senior Training Program and Skills 1 & 2 classes (6 months).is required.
  • System Service Rep Sr. – Successful completion of the Measurement Services System Service Representative Senior Training Program, or two years of current experience performing electrical distribution work at secondary voltage using a bucket truck and pole climbing.is required.

Measures of Success

  • Demonstrates knowledge of metering applications, including proper socket wiring, voltages, and associated hazards.
  • Demonstrates the ability to recognize substandard metering installations and take appropriate action.
  • Achieves quantitative, qualitative, and cost performance metrics.
  • Engages effectively with internal and external stakeholders to resolve issues in accordance with company policies and standards.
  • Contributes to workgroup and company goals.
  • Demonstrates the ability to work with minimal supervision while maintaining an ongoing mentoring relationship.
  • Follows Measurement Services safety procedures to ensure the safety of employees and the public.
