System Service Representative (1-SR)

The System Service Representative is responsible for working service orders involving the disconnecting, reconnecting, setting, reading and investigating of meters and/or service to residential, commercial and industrial premises. This job involves advanced skills of cutting or reconnecting of electric service at a weatherhead, pole, handhole, transformer or at a line fuse link/disconnect. Orders will involve pole climbing or use of bucket truck. These orders must be worked safely and in a prescribed timeframe resulting in proper delivery and measurement of electric energy.

Key Roles & Responsibilities:

  • Use proper test equipment to determine proper voltage and guard against faulty or hazardous conditions.
  • Disconnect/Reconnect service through the use of advanced skills involving the meter, weather-head, hand-hole, pole, transformer or fuse link/disconnect for installation less than 600 volts.
  • Assure service orders are completed within a specified time frame over a diverse geographic area, while meeting Company safety rules/regulations.
  • Operation of a bucket truck and pole climbing activities.
  • Evaluate premise for proper meter and service delivery and recognize/investigate any diversion of energy through inappropriate or faulty wiring or metering.
  • Performs all essential aspects and functions of the job, as well as any other specific job requirements.

Skills:

  • Certification in use of volt, ohm and amp meter and load/fault device is encouraged to apply.
  • Experience as Electric Field Service Representative is encouraged to apply.
  • Basic PC skills.

Education and Experience:

  • High school diploma, GED, or equivalent is required.
  • Valid Texas Driver License is required.

System Service Rep Levels (in addition to above requirements):

  • System Service Rep 1 - Successful completion of Measurement Services System Service Rep. Senior Training program.
  • System Service Rep 2 - Successful completion of Measurement Services System Service Rep. Senior Training program, Skills 1 & 2 class (6mos.)
  • System Service Rep Sr. - Successful completion of Measurement Services System Service Rep. Senior Training Program, or 2 years current experience in performing electrical distribution work at secondary voltage using a bucket truck and pole climbing.

Measures of Success:

  • Demonstrates knowledge of metering applications to include proper socket wiring, voltages and dangers associated with those applications.
  • Demonstrates ability to recognize sub-standard metering installations and take appropriate action.
  • Achievement of quantitative, qualitative and cost metrics.
  • Interaction with internal and external stakeholders to resolve issues in accordance with Company policies and standards.
  • Demonstrates contribution to workgroup and Company goals.
  • Demonstrates ability to perform work with minimum supervisor while maintaining a continuing mentoring relationship.
  • Follows Measurement Services safety procedures to ensure safety of employee and public. Interpersonal Skills/Teamwork.
