The Manager will join a small team looking after a proprietary media investment reporting platform. This role will initially be one of issue triage and supporting the AD leading the team. Later, once more familiar with the platform and various stakeholders, this role will more independently speak for the team, and resolve issues themselves. This role is a primarily human-facing one of user engagement, partially transitioning to a more technical focus later on.
Platform Management - Understanding problems facing our teams, and establishing whether we can help, and owning both the conversation and the solution. Take the lead on data quality, finding ways to quantify the quality, punctuality, completeness and accuracy of our data, and finding ways to improve all four.
User Management - Be the first point of contact for confused or lost users. Ideally not only resolving their immediate issue, but explaining to them why this happened and how to avoid it in future. If an issue is common or disruptive, working with the rest of the team to find a way to stop it happening again. Engage with junior/mid-level users to ensure they are aware of what our platform can do, what it can't do, and maintaining its presence in the broader conversation. When new functionality is deployed, immediately and assertively engaging with users and stakeholders to ensure they know how it works and what it's supposed to achieve.
Technical - Assisting the rest of the team in testing new functionality and providing an additional point of view on matters of UX. Understanding the backend of our platform, and especially being aware of where the limit is in terms of what we can reasonably do. This role reports to an Associate Director, who has been working on this platform for eight years and is looking to transition to a more strategic role that is less involved in the day-to-day work. It currently is scoped to have one executive reporting into it, but that may change in either direction.
Ideal Candidate - Excellent communication skills: the ability to be clear, concise and patient with users, many of whom may not speak English as their first language and/or may be new to the industry. The confidence to speak for the platform in front of senior agency management and possibly even clients, and to be able to answer their questions and establish yourself as the subject matter expert in every conversation. A willingness to learn about platform and reporting system development, how different teams of people with different skillsets can work together to deliver more, higher quality data, faster. Basic understanding of media buying, ad tech and taxonomies. A capacity to learn how different software platforms, and different parts of a single platform, pass data between them. Note that this role does not require any knowledge of programming languages, and you will not be required to do any actual 'software development'. Strong competence at Microsoft Excel. Reasonable Word/Powerpoint skills. Presentation skills, especially the ability to convey a technical subject to a non-technical audience, concisely and confidently.
Desirable but not Required Skills/Experience - SQL, Python, Regex or similar. Expert-level familiarity with the rest of the MS Office suite. PowerBI (Tableau, MCI, etc also useful). Any ETL platforms.
