Job Description: The Manager, Patient Safety and Medical Staff Services promotes patient safety at Olympic Medical Center, preventing harm and ensuring positive outcomes. Working through the Quality Management System (QMS), this role champions high reliability, culture of safety including just culture principles, safety imperatives and leadership behaviors for safety, and trauma-informed care. This position provides leadership and direction to Patient Safety Services and Medical Staff Services departments, facilitates performance improvement in Olympic Medical Center's patient safety initiatives and best practice development and facilitates OMC-wide patient safety efforts.

Education

  • Bachelor's degree in a relevant field, required.
  • BSN preferred.

Experience

  • 5 years' experience in healthcare and project management required.
  • 5 years' experience with medical center accreditation and regulatory surveys required.
  • 5 years' experience with patient safety programs required.
  • Experience in team facilitation, change management, and public speaking required.
  • Experience in coordination and evaluation of performance improvement (PI) activities, data collection, analysis, and basic statistics, required.
  • Experience with performance improvement (PI) methodology and Plan, Do, Study, Act (PDSA) approach, required.
  • Experience with DNV accreditation and ISO 9001 requirements preferred; progressive expertise with these programs and accreditation elements is expected and supported.
  • Experience in management or supervision preferred.

Licensure/Credentials

  • Current Washington state RN license if degree is BSN.
  • Certified Professional in Patient Safety (CPPS) or Certified Professional in Healthcare Quality (CPHQ) preferred.
