Position Overview
This position is responsible for the overall management of the Retirement Benefits department including client managements and business development, retirement plan services, trustee services, and key vendor relationship management (e.g. Retirement Direct and BPAS).
Essential Job Functions
- Develop and drive sales and service strategy for the Retirement Benefits group—consult with and direct clients on EB plan design, investment vehicles, and compliance. This includes understanding client needs and executing appropriate plan design, anticipating problems and consulting on solutions to compliance issues, and offering cost-effective investment vehicles to meet client needs.
- Lead group and set expectations to deliver timely, well-researched customer service that is tailored to customer needs. This includes maintaining regular value-added contact with current customer base and recognizing opportunities to exceed customer expectations.
- Drive strategy to bring in new business both through calling on prospects and by facilitating referral synergy with internal departments such as commercial and retail banking.
- Manage departmental compliance and risk such as maintaining knowledge of ERISA including distributions, loans, hardships and retirement planning.
- Serve in leadership role acting as subject matter expert on investment options and risk appropriate investment choices.
- Thoroughly understand and effectively communicate to plan sponsor and participants with regard to DB and DC plans including Money Purchase, Profit Sharing, Safe Harbor 401(k), 403(b), Cash Balance and 457 Governmental plans.
Minimum Requirements
- Bachelor's degree and five or more year of related experience; or equivalent combination of education and experience.

- Strong departmental leadership skills, and professional discipline knowledge
- Appropriate undergraduate degree or equivalent experience required
- Excellent oral, written and interpersonal skills
Location Details
This position is considered a hybrid role. With management approval, an incumbent may work a combination of remote and onsite work to perform the regular responsibilities of the role. Onsite work location is available within Greater Chicago branch footprint. Actual schedule requirements may vary based upon business needs.
Compensation & Benefits
Base pay: $108,000-$170,000
Old Second is committed to fair and equitable pay practices. Pay is dependent upon the pay range and the incumbent's knowledge, skills and experience.
Officer Bonus Eligible: Eligible to participate in the Annual Officer Incentive plan with a target bonus up to 30% of base salary based various performance components.
