Pump Mechanic
Experienced pump mechanic well versed in the disassembly, assessment, and re-assembly of engineered rotating equipment. Pump types will include, but not be limited to, the following: radially split, between bearing, multi-stage, axially split, between bearing, single-stage, axially split, between bearing, multi-stage, high energy, between bearing, multi-stage barrel pumps. Experience with other rotating equipment types will be considered a plus (i.e., reciprocating pumps, steam turbines, gear boxes, mixers, etc.). May be required to perform field service work as needed.
Responsibilities and Duties:
- Read and interpret engineered component drawings.
- Completion of detailed inspection reports and ability to write short write-ups summarizing the condition of equipment and offer repair recommendations.
- Ability to draw own conclusions as to the potential cause of equipment or component failure (i.e., flashing, high vibration, re-circulation, improper alignment, improper operation, etc.).
- Assess the condition of pump components, both cast and machined parts, and make a determination of repair, replace or reuse.
- Ability to use various precision measuring instruments such as micrometers, tri-mics, ID gauges, standards, etc. and accurately measure sizes to 0.0005" tolerance.
- Ability to operate tools and equipment such as: hydraulic torque wrenches, hydraulic pullers and presses, torches, balance machine, forklifts, overhead cranes, etc.
- Ability to read and understand technical documentation as well as policies and procedures.
- Ability to safely perform air and hydro-testing of equipment.
- Knowledge of safe work practices and ability to identify and assess hazards.
- Collaborate well with leadership, supervisors and co-workers.

- Follow 6S guidelines and keep a clean and organized work station.
- Must be able to work with a sense of urgency and work overtime when required.
- Ability to lead and instruct other mechanics on the disassembly and reassembly of pumping equipment and associated inspections.
Qualifications and Skills:
- High School Diploma or Equivalent.
- Relevant Trade School or Experience.
- 3-5 years Pump Mechanic Experience.
- 5+ years Manufacturing Experience.
- Must be able to read and write English.
- Must have thorough knowledge in the preparation of and use hand, pneumatic, and other tools.
- Must be capable of disassembling, inspecting and assembling various types of pumps.
- Must be knowledgeable in assembling parts, quality control and safety.
- Thorough understanding of all company safety and environmental practices.

- Must be reliable, dependable, and able to work overtime as required including weekends and holidays.
- Must be able to read various mic's to hold to tolerances as required.

Physical Requirements:
- Incumbents in this classification are required to stand and walk throughout an 8 hour or longer workday.
- Must be able to lift 50 lbs. consistently.
- The requirements of this position include close vision, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus.
- Must be able to repetitively use arms, hands, and fingers in the manipulation of parts.
- Must demonstrate good hand/eye coordination.
- Must demonstrate good manual dexterity.
- In addition to bending, kneeling, squatting and twisting.
