Develop Instrument Design Basis/Philosophy
Perform Instrument Sizing calculations
Familiar with ISA, IEC, ASME, CE, UL and other related standards
Knowledge on Hazardous Area Classifications, ATEX, IP ratings
Review vendors/sub-vendors' technical drawings/documents
Perform Procurement Engineering within stipulated time frame of the project. Coordinate with vendors, subcontractors, supply chain etc. to ensure timely review of documents and that comments are made with required quality level
Recommend testing protocols to address specific design and development needs
Perform estimates of labour and materials required for testing, including project test scheduling. Capable of working to drawings, diagrams, and schematics
Collaborate with other lab engineers on interdisciplinary teams to plan and conduct complex test programs. Coordinates and follows up on testing performed by test technicians
Ensure all safety requirements are met. May oversee the work of test technicians
Write detailed test procedures and test reports as needed to support the test lab
Review active test programs and final test results to ensure that performance and reliability requirements are met
Understanding of the impact of equipment sparing, redundancy, reliability, availability, maintainability, and maintenance cost in support of Operations Excellence and Capital efficiency
Field failure analysis - Performing root cause analysis (8D, 5 why) to understand why failures occur and implementing corrective actions to prevent recurrence
Developing and implementing preventive and predictive maintenance strategies, including inspections and monitoring, to anticipate and prevent breakdowns
Analyzing performance data and maintenance records to identify trends, weaknesses, and opportunities for improvement
Should have experience of troubleshooting Pressure transmitters, Thermocouples, Level switches and transmitters, Hydrogen and oxygen sensors etc.
Desired Qualification
B.E in Instrumentation/ Mechanical Engineering background
Minimum 5+ year of hands-on experiences in instrument component selection and testing
Experiences in the renewable energy sector is a plus
Excellent communication and teamwork skills
Ability to work independently and manage time effectively
The Senior components engineer is responsible for data sheet specification, selection, application, testing and qualification of hardware including pressure/temperature/ flow/ level instruments, VFDs, control valves. Provide troubleshooting and reliability improvements for test labs and field services units to maintain safety, availability, and reliability of instrumentation systems while optimizing cost.
