The College of Veterinary Medicine, Veterinary Medical Center seeks applicants for Veterinary Customer Service Specialists with the Small Animal Reception team. This opening is a full-time position (40 hours/week) on varying shifts including evenings and weekends. Evening and weekend hours will be eligible for shift differential. Holidays are required and are based on a team rotation. A background check is required prior to the start date. The successful candidates will have the opportunity to provide excellent front-line client services to support clients, customers, clinicians, and care-giving colleagues. Duties include, but are not limited to, the following: responding to routine, complex and medical emergency situations in professional manner; answering and directing internal and external calls appropriately; creating accurate day-to-day admitting information through hospital computer system; resolving routine problems and complex situations using appropriate medical terminology, office practices and procedures, and established customer service principles; maintaining safe and accurate money handling practices and abiding by all university privacy standards; and other duties as assigned. 2 years of experience in a customer services, healthcare or veterinary care environment. Background in customer services, insurance verification and/or veterinary practice customer services.
Ability to work in a self-directed manner while interacting with customers, visitors, clinicians, technicians, and all other medical center faculty and staff.
Experience in analyzing and interpreting information.
Experience with electronic medical records systems and/or at least experience operating computers.
The targeted hiring range for this position is $17.00- $19.43 per hour commensurate with education and experience.
Minimum Qualifications: High School graduate or equivalent. 1 year of relevant experience required. 2-4 years of relevant experience preferred.
Working Conditions: Sitting/staring at computer screens for long periods of time, Exposure to animal dander and/or zoonotic diseases, exposure to needle sticks, hazardous chemicals, and/or bio hazardous waste.
