This full-time position will gain valuable experience in the Collegiate Athletic industry. It will provide support to department leaders, student athletes, coaches, and sports programs by providing operational support in specified unit. Gain knowledge of a collegiate athletics department and NCAA rules & regulations. Provide general operational support for assigned unit. This position works in a creative and collaborative team environment where change is embraced, and innovation is encouraged.
This position creates and implements fan cultivation strategies and tactics through communication, advertising campaigns, media buying, database marketing, email marketing, social media and promotional initiatives for assigned sports and related special events. Responsible for increasing fan awareness that translates into increased ticket sales revenue, attendance and other ancillary revenue. Implement strategies to maximize game atmosphere opportunities and in-game promotional activities to produce remarkable experiences for fans. Collaborate with Live Events, Ohio State Marching and Athletic Bands, Ohio State Spirit Squad, Block O and other university affiliated, as well as external groups to create a competitive advantage at home events. This position will oversee the Buckeye Experiences program, including ideation and day-to-day execution. Additional administrative responsibilities including cross campus involvement through special engagements that include student life and related special projects. Candidate will work hand in hand with media rights partner, Learfield, to ensure activation of sponsored elements. Management responsibilities will include overseeing the student internship program, assisting in development of interns, scheduling for in season sports as well as special related projects. Performs other duties as assigned.
Minimum Required Qualification: High School diploma or GED. Certification or vocational training may be required. Associate degree in relevant field may be preferred. 2 years of relevant experience required. 4-6 years of relevant experience preferred.
Preferred Qualifications: Self starter. Excellent communication skills both oral and written. Excellent interpersonal skills. Demonstrated experience in marketing or sales. Knowledge of Big Ten and NCAA rules and regulations as pertains to duties of position. Proficiency in computer skills using Microsoft Word, Excel, Adobe Photoshop or InDesign or a similar program, Shoflo or other scripting mechanisms, and other relevant software. Proficiency with advertising, both digital and traditional. Ability to work under minimal supervision while achieving established goals. Ability and willingness to work evenings and weekends.
