Functions as an Administrative Assistant for Pathology Support Services within the Department of Pathology; opens, sorts, and distributes incoming correspondence and packages, and performs customer service-related duties such as answering the phone and problem resolution. Specific duties include: responds to inquiries from department and medical center staff, pathologists, clinicians, physicians; maintains multiple Excel files for the department; opens and sorts courier deliveries; compiles and organizes materials for Tumor Boards; receives pathology slides from outside institutions and completes Quality Assurance form; sorts Information Office email mailboxes; serves as a liaison for faculty to facilitate shipping of department slides and blocks to outside facilities; produces mailings for patient consultation reports; returns and receives outside blocks and slides according to retention policies; collaborates with OSU medical center personnel to ensure timely communications to complete accessioning process for patients; requests blocks and slides to be returned from outside facilities, requests results from reference laboratories; and collaborates with OSUP Billing to resolve documentation issues within our pathology reports.
High School diploma or GED. Certification or vocational training may be preferred. 1 year of relevant experience required.
