The Staff Engineer – Small Uncrewed Engines & Hypersonic Test Owner will join the Emerging Technology Systems Integration team within Edison Works, and lead engine testing for both the Small Uncrewed Engines and Hypersonic portfolios. You will be a technical leader working across functional teams to define and execute critical technology maturation rigs and engine tests. You will work closely with the Test Systems Organization, Engine Systems & Design, government customers and test facilities at multiple sites to ensure GE Aerospace successfully demonstrates capability in the fields of both expendable, life-limited engines and hypersonic propulsion.
In the role of Staff Engineer – Small Uncrewed Engines & Hypersonic Test Owner, you will be responsible for the success of critical demonstrator vehicles and qualification engines, for both the Small Uncrewed Engines and Hypersonic portfolios. Your responsibilities will include:
Bachelor of Science in Engineering, Physics, Chemistry, Mathematics, or Computer Science from an accredited University or College. 8-10 years of experience in an aerospace or mechanical engineering position. 5+ years of relevant test experience. Experience with both military and commercial engines desired. Experience leading teams. Due to the nature of the duties of this position, this role requires the individual to obtain and maintain US Government Security Clearance; prerequisite for a security clearance is U.S. citizenship. Ability to travel out of state to cover engine test for a minimum of 15% annually. Legal authorization to work in the U.S. is required. Current secret clearance desired. Master's Degree in Mechanical or Aerospace Engineering from an accredited college or university. Minimum of 8+ years of relevant test experience. Current Secret US security clearance. Demonstrated ability to lead and influence across the matrix. Exposure to aviation engine design or certification requirements. Experience with GE NPI Tollgate and Military Qualification processes. Strong oral and written communication skills. Strong interpersonal and leadership skills. Ability to guide and influence others. Demonstrated process orientation in approach to work. Exposure to both military and commercial engine design requirements. Problem analysis and resolution skills. Systems thinking.
