The Service Technician I is responsible for loading and/or unloading drums and containers from trucks and processing and/or storing hazardous waste materials. Essential functions and requirements include:

  • Ensures health and safety is the number one goal by following policies, processes, and acting in a safe manner at all times.
  • Loads and/or unloads drums and containers from trucks; processes and/or stores hazardous waste materials.
  • Weighs and breaks down large containers into smaller containers.
  • Completes inspection and mechanical placement of drums on conveyor and completes the manual placement of buckets from pallet to carriage.
  • Drives forklift to retrieve drums and containers from storage and operates computer and conveyor.
  • Transports/positions trailers and tankers for collection of slag and ash.
  • Pumps out containers of liquid.
  • Transfers material from tank to tank using a centrifugal pump.
  • Maintains a clean work area.
  • Completes other duties as assigned.

Education: High school diploma or equivalent required.

Experience: Previous experience operating a fork truck (preferred). HAZWOPER certificate or previous fire-fighting experience (preferred).

Competencies: Ability to work in a constant state of alertness and in a safe manner. Ability to pass a pre-employment physical, background check and drug screen. Ability to wear personal protective equipment (PPE), including a respirator. Ability to lift and carry up to 50lbs. Ability to work all shifts, weekends, holidays, and overtime as needed. Ability to participate in Emergency Response and Fire Brigade. Regular and predictable attendance to perform the functions and requirements of this role.
