Job Summary: This position is responsible for the inspection, auditing, evaluating, and/or compiling of information for adherence to manufacturing processes, quality procedures, and engineering specifications.

Major Tasks, Responsibilities and Key Accountabilities

• Directs and performs the testing required of raw materials and finished products according to established test methods and QC specifications.
• Compiles and analyzes test documentation to assure that the products sampled are within the specifications.
• Confers with Quality Supervisor, Engineering and R&D to conduct analyses, interpret test results, or develop nonstandard tests.
• Investigate Q. C. complaints on existing products.
• Establishes or adjusts work procedures to meet testing schedules.
• Recommends measures to improve testing procedures and use of equipment.
• Analyzes and resolves, or assists workers in solving work problems.
• Maintains time and testing records to meet ICC requirements per DSC written standard procedures.
• Other duties may be assigned.

Nature and Scope

Demonstrates skill in data analysis techniques by resolving missing/incomplete information and inconsistencies/anomalies in more complex research/data. Nature of work requires increasing independence; receives guidance only on unusual, complex problems or issues. Work review typically involves periodic review of output by a supervisor and/or direct customers of the process. May provide general guidance/direction to or train junior level support or professional personnel.

Work Environment

Typically located in a comfortable indoor area. There may be regular exposure to mild physical discomfort from factors, such as dust, fumes or odors, temperature extremes, loud noise, strong drafts, or bright lights. Ability to lift and carry up to 50 pounds in a physical environment. Ability to stand for periods of time up to and exceeding 60 minutes. Ability to make repetitive movements, such as using a 10-key or calculator, bending, or squatting. Typically requires overnight travel less than 10% of the time.

Education and Experience

Typically requires BS/BA in a related discipline. Generally 2-5 years of experience in a related field OR MS/MA and generally 2-4 years of experience in a related field. Certification is required in some areas. Preferred Qualifications: Ability to calculate figures and amounts such as tensile strength, percentages, area, circumference, and volume. Ability to apply concepts of basic algebra and geometry. Ability to accurately interpret, follow and communicate technical drawings and directions. Ability to effectively present information to all levels of management. Skills to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form. Ability to deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations.
