Direct Support Professional

We are seeking compassionate and dedicated Direct Support Professionals to provide exceptional care and support to individuals with developmental disabilities, aging needs, or other health challenges. In this role, you will work closely with residents in group homes, assisted living facilities, or community settings to promote independence, safety, and well-being. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in patient care, caregiving, or home health services, along with a genuine desire to make a positive impact on people's lives. Responsibilities:

  • Assist residents with Activities of Daily Living (ADLs), including bathing, dressing, grooming, and mobility support
  • Monitor residents' health status by observing patient behavior and vital signs; report any concerns promptly
  • Administer medications following prescribed care plans and HIPAA regulations
  • Prepare nutritious meals and assist with meal planning in accordance with dietary needs
  • Support residents during recreational activities and social engagements to promote engagement and community participation
  • Operate specialized equipment such as Hoyer lifts and assist with transfers safely
  • Maintain a clean and safe environment by performing light cleaning duties and adhering to infection control protocols
  • Document care activities accurately in compliance with healthcare regulations and facility policies
  • Collaborate with healthcare professionals, families, and team members to develop and implement individualized care plans
  • Provide emotional support and companionship to residents, fostering a respectful and caring atmosphere
  • Requirements:

    • Prior experience in group home settings, assisted living, home health, hospice care, nursing homes, or working with individuals with developmental disabilities or autism is preferred
    • Knowledge of patient monitoring, vital signs measurement, medication administration, Alzheimer's/dementia/memory care is highly desirable
    • Certifications such as First Aid and CPR are required; additional certifications like HIPAA training are a plus
    • Ability to perform heavy lifting when necessary and assist with transfers using equipment like Hoyer lifts
    • Strong communication skills and patience when working with diverse populations including seniors and individuals with disabilities
    • Experience in meal preparation, care planning, and working within long-term care environments is advantageous
    • Compassionate attitude with a commitment to providing respectful, person-centered care
