Lead Recovery Support Specialist
STR Behavioral Health's premier mental health and addiction treatment center located in Levittown. The programs we offer include detox, residential, partial hospitalization, intensive outpatient, and outpatient care with licensed recovery housing. The approach at our treatment centers is firmly rooted in individualized, person-centered care to help clients uncover the "why" behind their disorders and help them build foundational relationships that help answer the "how" in moving forward. We work closely with every client to create personalized, high-quality treatment plans that cater to their specific needs and increase their chances of success. Our clinical team also meets regularly to adjust each treatment plan as the client progresses through treatment. Additionally, we work closely with each client's family and other stakeholders to help people thrive in recovery.
The Lead Recovery Support Specialist (LRSS) plays a pivotal role in guiding individuals through their recovery journey by leveraging personal lived experience and professional training. This position entails providing peer support, mentoring, and leadership to both clients and a team of recovery specialists, ensuring the delivery of high-quality, person-centered care.
SCHEDULE: 1p-9p Monday's, Tuesday's, Thursday's & 9a-5p Wednesday's, Friday's
Within the organization: Supervise and support a team of Certified Recovery Specialists, facilitating regular meetings, providing guidance, and promoting professional development. Utilize personal recovery experience to provide empathetic support, fostering trust and hope among clients. Mentor clients in developing and achieving individualized recovery goals.
Outside the organization: Establish and nurture relationships with community resources, facilitating client access to supportive services and opportunities.
- Helping clients by providing information, services, resources, and assistance in regard to food stamps, employment, 12 step recovery community, alternative housing, and psych supports.
- Support a team of recovery support specialists.
- Onboard and regularly train recovery support staff.
- Communicate with Direct Supervisor performance of the team.
- Maintaining a safe and secure environment.
- Support clients to travel when necessary.
- Support clients to engage in treatment plans and housing support plans.
- Support fire safety and physical wellness of clients.
- Assist in client admission and orientation to programming as possible and necessary.
- Communicate and assist in crisis situations involving unsafe situations (e.g. clients not getting along, unapproved visitors, relapses, APA's, etc).
- Assist in client discharges as possible and necessary.
- Prepare, facilitate and/or co-facilitate Psycho-Educational Groups as scheduled.
- Engage in appropriate correspondence with client's loved ones and families as necessary for housing/visitation purposes.
- Assist in cleanliness and organization of residences as necessary.
- Complete thorough residence checks for safety and cleanliness at a minimum of twice per week and report issues or concerns to supervisor.
- Abide by housing schedule and be present and available in SUD housing daily from the hours of 3pm-5pm as additional support to clients.
- Complete observed Urinalysis Screening of clients when scheduled and necessary.
- Assist in coordinating client crisis, relapse, elopement, or APA.
- Mentor clients in creating community, completing room checks, chore checks, and provide recommendations and feedback as necessary.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
- Build and maintain relationships with clients and family members in order to engage and support their goals and treatment plan needs while in services.
- Support engagement and participation in community resources and local support.
- Collect Rent from clients.
Qualifications
This position requires a minimum high school Diploma, Bachelor's degree preferred. Must have Certification as a CRS. One Year experience in the human service field providing direct support/ Experience in the substance abuse field preferred. An understanding and knowledge of 12 step recovery programs and recovery supports in the community. Minimum of 1 year Experience supporting case management for person's in early recovery (e.g. Food stamps finding housing, employment, legal support, medical/psych support and facilitating psycho –educational groups).
- Knowledge and experience with basic Microsoft software packages
- Current CPR and First Aid certification, or willingness to complete within the first 30 days of employment
- Driver's License and at least 5 years of driving experience
