Data Engineer Intern
Oceaneering is a global provider of engineered services and products, primarily to the offshore energy industry. This is a paid Summer Internship Program (early June to early August). As a Data Engineer Intern, you will play a key role in migrating data from Denodo to Microsoft Fabric.
Duties And Responsibilities:
- Analyzing and understanding SQL logic built into Denodo views.
- Recreating that logic using Microsoft Fabric Data Factory pipelines, Spark SQL, and notebooks.
- Conducting thorough validation to ensure data accuracy and consistency post-migration.
- Creating clear and comprehensive supporting documentation for migration processes and outcomes.
- Investigating and resolving any data discrepancies identified during migration or validation.
- Collaborating with Business Analysts, Project Managers, and Software Developers.
- Working independently and under the supervision/guidance of the Data Engineering Manager.
Qualifications:
- Required:
- 3rd or 4th year undergraduate student at an accredited University, pursuing a degree in Computer Science or Management Information Systems (MIS).
- Minimum 3.0 GPA.
- Experience with Microsoft Office.
- Must be legally authorized to work in the United States without company sponsorship now and in the future.
- Strong understanding of SQL, including the ability to write, analyze, and optimize queries.
- Proficiency in using SQL joins (INNER, LEFT, RIGHT, FULL) to combine data from multiple tables.
- Experience with GROUP BY, HAVING, and aggregate functions (e.g., COUNT, SUM, AVG) for data summarization and reporting.
- Ability to interpret and translate complex SQL logic from existing views or scripts.
- Desired:
- Knowledge of Microsoft Fabric and experience building data pipelines.
- Familiarity with Spark SQL and the use of notebooks for data engineering tasks.
