Position Summary: We have an exciting opportunity to join our team as a Health System Sr. Director of Development, Children's Services. In this role, the successful candidate is a dynamic, results-driven leader within the Office of Development & Alumni Affairs, charged with advancing NYU Langone Health's mission through high-impact fundraising and exceptional donor stewardship.

Job Responsibilities:

  • Fundraising Leadership & Strategic Partnerships
  • Design and execute a comprehensive fundraising plan for Children's Services, with an emphasis on the Sala Institute's mission and strategic priorities.
  • Consistently close $8M to $10M annually through major gift opportunities, including complex planned and blended gifts.
  • Serve as the lead strategist and relationship manager for high-capacity donors, Trustees, and other institutional leaders, advancing their engagement from initial cultivation through solicitation and long-term stewardship.
  • Act as a trusted advisor to select Trustees, and advisory board members, creating tailored engagement strategies that inspire significant philanthropic investment and network building.
  • Advisory Board & Trustee Engagement
  • Serve as development liaison and strategic driver for the Sala Institute Circle, building upon a dynamic culture of philanthropy and translating engagement into major gift commitments.
  • Partner with select NYU Langone Trustees to align their philanthropic priorities with institutional goals, providing strategic counsel, curated experiences, and opportunities for leadership visibility.
  • Coordinate and prepare select Trustees, executive leadership, and faculty for donor meetings through concise, high-impact briefings.
  • Program Leadership & Cross-Institutional Collaboration
  • Partner with Chairs, Directors, and clinical leaders to identify philanthropic opportunities that will support pediatric care and advance children's health.
  • Collaborate with colleagues in Marketing & Communications, Clinical Programs, Events, and Development Operations to ensure seamless execution of donor strategies.
  • Lead a team of two experienced gift officers, providing mentorship, performance management, and professional development.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.
  • Donor Experience & Stewardship
  • Plan and execute bespoke donor events, high-level site visits, and recognition initiatives to showcase the impact of philanthropy.
  • Prepare compelling proposals, letters of inquiry, and other donor communications that reflect the excellence of NYU Langone Health.
  • Ensure all donor activity is accurately documented in TRAX and that stewardship deliverables are met with the highest level of precision.

Minimum Qualifications: To qualify you must have a Bachelor's degree required. 10 to 14+ years of progressive fundraising experience, with a track record of closing major and principal gifts at the six- and seven-figure level. Minimum of 5 years of management experience, with demonstrated success leading and motivating high-performing teams. Deep knowledge of healthcare philanthropy, particularly in pediatrics, child health, and family-centered care. Proven success working with Trustees, board members, and other high-profile institutional stakeholders. Exceptional written, verbal, and presentation skills, with the ability to inspire confidence and convey complex ideas with clarity. Strategic thinker with strong project management skills, attention to detail, and the ability to navigate a fast-paced, metrics-driven environment. High emotional intelligence, authenticity, and the ability to build trust with donors and colleagues alike. Possesses the presence, inclusivity, and communication skills necessary to be an effective representative of NYU Langone Health and a liaison to the donor base. Develops and enhances relationships through authenticity, professionalism and trust. Facilitates understanding through listening and crafting and delivering messages that meet the needs of different audiences. Takes ownership of opportunities, challenges and decisions to drive work and the organization forward. Has the ability to lead, direct and motivate others; encourages and ensures professional development opportunities for reporting staff and acts as a mentor. Meets with reporting staff individually and as a full team. Embraces and supports institutional values and competencies and ensures that they are reflected in all aspects of our work. Contributes on a daily basis to an environment where differences are welcomed and supported by embracing the perspectives of all.

Preferred Qualifications: Advanced degree preferred. Fundraising experience in an academic medical center or other complex nonprofit organization. Experience in board management and governance.

NYU Langone Health provides a salary range to comply with the New York state Law on Salary Transparency in Job Advertisements. The salary range for the role is $146,384.38 - $228,900.00 Annually. Actual salaries depend on a variety of factors, including experience, specialty, education, and hospital need. The salary range or contractual rate listed does not include bonuses/incentive, differential pay or other forms of compensation or benefits.
