Visiting Professor, Civil and Environmental Engineering
The Department of Civil and Environmental Engineering at Manhattan University seeks applicants for a Visiting Professor faculty position beginning Fall 2026. We seek candidates with expertise in Environmental Engineering, Transportation Engineering, or Structural Engineering. Applicants in other areas of civil engineering with exceptional qualifications may also be considered. This is an in-person, on-campus, non-remote position.
Responsibilities:
- Teach undergraduate and graduate (M.S) courses in civil and/or environmental engineering.
- Develop and maintain course materials, including syllabi, lecture notes, assignments, and examinations.
- Hold regular office hours to provide academic support and mentorship to students.
- Advise undergraduate students on course planning, academic progress, and career pathways.
- Participate in departmental and University service, including curriculum development, student outreach, and community engagement.
- Teach a standard load of 24 credits per academic year.
Qualifications:
- A Ph.D. in Civil Engineering, Environmental Engineering, or a closely related field is required. Candidates with a master's degree and relevant work experience can also be considered for a visiting lecturer position.
- Evidence of effective teaching or potential for effective excellence.
- Demonstrated expertise in specialty areas within Environmental, Transportation, or Structural Engineering.
- Ability to teach core undergraduate civil and/or environmental engineering courses and upper-level undergraduate and graduate (M.S.) courses in the candidate's area of specialization.
- Professional engineering licensure or eligibility to obtain licensure is desirable.
