The Department of Civil Engineering at The City College of New York (CCNY) invites applications and nominations for a Professor of Civil Engineering to serve as Director of the Urban Waste Resource Recovery Research Institute (UWRRRI). We seek a visionary researcher and leader committed to advancing environmental sustainability, urban infrastructure resilience, and integrated waste management in support of New York City's long-term strategic goals.
The Director will lead the Urban Waste Resource Recovery Research Institute in addressing critical urban challenges through applied research, innovation, and workforce development. Areas of focus include:
The Institute plays a central role in research and development efforts that align with the long-term strategic initiatives of the NYC Department of Environmental Protection (DEP). Currently serving as the central hub for NYCDEP, the Institute is planning to expand its network of collaborative "spokes" including Columbia University, New York University, and CUNY Colleges, along with additional diverse public and private entities.
A central focus is the creation of a translational testbed-modeled after successful initiatives such as the Harlem Biospace-to accelerate the deployment of innovations relevant to DEP’s mission. This testbed will serve as a dynamic platform for:

Compensation:
Salary Range: $122,201 - $155,388. Salary commensurate with education and experience. Salaries above the contractual base are available commensurate with experience per the PSC-CUNY contract.
