Provides and supervises mail and related services at a CUNY location. There are two assignment levels for this position and all personnel perform related work. This specification describes typical assignments in this position; related duties may be assigned as needed.

Campus Specific Information: The City College of New York (CCNY) of the City University of New York (CUNY) invites applications for the position of Mail Message Services Worker. CCNY was the first free public institution of higher education in the United States and has been committed to the dual goals of accessibility and academic quality since its founding in 1847. The Mail Message Services Worker will report to the Director of Mail / Receiving / Duplicating Services.
1 - Uses Pitney Bowes P3000 Metered Postage Machine for standard envelope, Priority Mail, Express Mail, large boxes & foreign mail.
2 - Follows a daily assigned route to specific buildings at the College. Will deliver mail, and pick up outgoing mail from each departmental office in the assigned building.
3 - Routinely answer questions and inquiries regarding the proper posting of mail and proper packing procedures.
4 - Will use CCNY’s internal package tracking system to receive all incoming parcels.
5 - Will meet with drivers of incoming trucks of various parcel carriers, including heavy freight. Signs off on any incoming delivery. Bring in all parcels/freight into loading dock area and maneuver them into predetermined storage areas.
6 - Supervise Level 1 mail/messenger service operations.
Minimum Qualifications: A four-year high school diploma or its equivalent, plus six months of full time office experience in mail services area. The person must be able to communicate in English. A Motor Vehicle Driver’s License, valid in the State of New York, may be required for some, but not all positions.
Compensation: New Hire Rate: $44,627 Incumbent Rate: $50,433 This amount reflects a 13% salary suppression in effect for the first 24 months of employment only CUNY's benefits contribute significantly to total compensation, supporting health and wellness, financial well-being, and professional development.
