Job Responsibilities
- Design and build full-stack solutions in partnership with Portfolio Management and Trading teams and optimize algorithms and workflows to improve trading efficiency
- Deliver robust, high-performance code to cloud environments
- Lead the integration of AI across the software development lifecycle from requirements and architecture through coding, testing, deployment, and monitoring
- Own the technical strategy for a greenfield platform that directly influences investment decisions, order management, and real-time portfolio analytics and drive key architectural decisions
- Set engineering standards and reference architectures across Java, React, Kafka, Oracle, Aurora, Airflow, and Spark. Guide deployments to both public and private cloud environments
- Develops secure and high-quality production code, and reviews and debugs code written by others
- Collaborate with Advisors, Portfolio Managers, and Middle Office teams on the portfolio management process, help shape the end-to-end investment process by translating investment intent into automated and scalable workflows, strengthening controls, and improving time-to-execution
- Serves as a function-wide subject matter expert in one or more areas of focus
- Actively contributes to the engineering community as an advocate of firmwide frameworks, tools, and practices of the Software Development Life Cycle
- Influences peers and project decision-makers to consider the use and application of leading-edge technologies
- Lead a team of software engineers, setting technical direction, mentor and learn within a diverse, high-performing engineering team, and ensuring high-quality delivery
Required Qualifications, Capabilities, and Skills
- Formal training or certification on software engineering concepts and 5+ years applied experience
- Hands-on practical experience delivering system design, application development, testing, and operational stability
- Advanced in one or more programming languages including Java
- Experience with Cloud Platforms, Springboot, Microservices
- Experience working in the financial services domain, developing financial services applications and interfacing with line of business stakeholders
- Advanced knowledge of software applications and technical processes with considerable in-depth knowledge in one or more technical disciplines (e.g., cloud, artificial intelligence, machine learning, mobile, etc.)
- Ability to tackle design and functionality problems independently with little to no oversight
- Experience in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Mathematics, or a related technical field
Preferred Qualifications, Capabilities, and Skills
- Experience with streaming technologies like Kafka
- Experience with AI initiatives, integration and tools
- Buy-side experience (portfolio management, OMS, trade lifecycle/middle office, risk and controls) that helps translate investment intent into compliant, scalable solutions
