Risk Manager

Job Functions
Deloitte Consulting LLP's Quality and Risk Management group is seeking a Risk Manager with extensive experience in supporting deal and contract structuring, drafting customized contractual provisions and risk review, negotiations, operations, and operational aspects of professional services contracts. Job functions include:
- Deal Support, Contracting, and Negotiations
- Assist with pursuit and contract review activities. Support our sales team with deal and contract structuring, as well as RFI/RFP/Proposals. Support the contracting cycle by drafting custom provisions and participating in negotiations.
- Intersect with various functions including sales, legal, finance, and delivery to act as a strategic advisor to help manage deal flow and to optimize sales and contracting cycles while navigating the firm's policies and requirements.
- Work closely with deal teams and legal in reviewing, advancing, and negotiating agreements such as master agreements, confidentiality agreements, subcontracts, and teaming agreements. Own risk consultation and contracting review of scope of work/SOW documents and related schedules.
- Ongoing and Post Execution Risk Management and Contracting Support
- Assist with ongoing contracting, risk management, and mitigation support for ongoing contracting requirements - SOWs, Change Orders, amendments, renewals, and issue/dispute resolution.
- Work actively with account leadership and other stakeholder groups including the quality team to identify and help mitigate post-signature delivery and engagement risks.
- Promote and facilitate leadership discussions as needed beyond pursuit/engagement leaders in order to raise awareness and drive alignment at a more senior leadership level: Sector Lead, Offering Portfolio/Offering Lead, and Finance Leadership.
- Knowledge Management and Training Support
- Provide authoritative guidance to business teams around professional services contracting (including technology, Managed Services/Outsourcing) and issue/risk resolution during delivery - all in a fast paced, dynamic environment.
- Proactively pursue, assess, and, where appropriate, advance firm's initiatives including in the areas of software, cloud, data analytics, operate services, Generative AI, and privacy and security.
- Support strategic initiatives pertaining to development/updating of processes, tools, and templates to improve overall risk management and contracting practices and to help drive adoption of such processes, tools, and templates.
Skills Required
A successful candidate will possess these skills:
- Strong understanding of the professional services contracting lifecycle with an emphasis on technology services
- Proven track record influencing diverse sets of stakeholders and driving common outcomes with a strong understanding of commercial contracting processes, including terms and conditions
- Outstanding verbal/written communication, collaboration, and negotiation skills to lead an environment driven by customer service and teamwork
- Excellent leadership skills, including ability to prioritize critical needs, act decisively, and handle a high volume of complex tasks within a given timeframe
- Experience in writing and reviewing scope of work documents with a focus on incorporating actionable and measurable guidance to address specific risks around delivery execution
- Proven willingness to listen and learn, and a consistent record of making and explaining appropriate decisions (even when this leads to tough business discussions)
- Financial Services industry experience, with an understanding of the unique risks affecting this industry
- Experience handling risk issues pertaining to a variety of contracts such as operate and technology preferred agreements, cloud agreements, and software licensing agreements.
- Fluency around the complexities of the multi-disciplinary model which requires navigation of Independence
- Technology delivery and implementation services experience
Qualifications Required
Experience Requirements: Minimum 8-10 years of direct contract negotiation for technology services
Education: BBA/BA/BS in related field
Ability to travel approximately 25%; flexibility required based on candidate location and role
Must be legally authorized to work in the United States without the need for employer sponsorship, now or at any time in the future.
Preferred
Industry Experience: 5+ years of Financial Services and ER&I industry with an understanding of the unique risks affecting this industry
5+ years of experience in Consulting field or a professional partnership
Education: Masters' Degree
The wage range for this role is $175,300 - $322,900. You may also be eligible to participate in a discretionary annual incentive program, subject to the rules governing the program, whereby an award, if any, depends on various factors, including, without limitation, individual and organizational performance.
