Software Engineer

NVIDIA is looking for a software engineer to join the Quantum & Chemistry group. As the team member, you will be part of the development effort of an AI for science agentic system. This work involves close collaboration with domain scientists and AI scientists that will be carrying out research in agentic science.

What you'll be doing:

1. Designing and developing solutions for AI for science agents that integrate with the current NVIDIA agentic stack.
2. Collaborating closely with internal and external partners to understand requirements and deliver robust full-cycle solutions.
3. Improving stability and performance across the agentic pipeline through architectural enhancements and code optimizations.
4. Troubleshooting issues in distributed environments.
5. Working multi-functionally with architects, DevOps engineers, product managers and partners to ensure high-quality releases.
6. Participating in code reviews, technical design discussions, and continuous improvement activities within the team.

What we need to see:

• You are completing a Ph.D. in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field (or equivalent experience).
• Hands-on experience in software development.
• Strong understanding of software design patterns, architectural principles, and standard methodologies in complex distributed systems.
• Experience with microservices architectures.
• Proficiency with version control systems (e.g., Git) and CI/CD pipelines.
• Experience working with both Linux and Windows operating systems.
• Strong problem-solving and analytical thinking, with the ability to deliver high-quality code and resilient services.
• Strong debugging and troubleshooting capabilities in distributed systems or multi-node environments.
• Excellent communication skills and an ownership-driven mindset.
• Experience in Agentic AI development with proficiency with Pytorch and or Tensorflow.

Ways to stand out from the crowd:

• Python proficiency (strongly preferred due to Python-based tooling).
• Familiarity with DevOps methodologies and tools (e.g., Jenkins, Ansible).
• Hands-on experience with Docker and containerized environments.
• Experience with scientific codes and high-performance computing.
• Experience with lab automation.

Your base salary will be determined based on your location, experience, and the pay of employees in similar positions. The base salary range is 168,000 USD - 264,500 USD.
