Transportation Project Engineer

Responsibilities

NV5 is seeking a Transportation Project Engineer for our Alpharetta, GA office. The position will provide engineering design, calculations, CAD support, and project assistance for the Transportation Design group. The ideal candidate will provide design support and be able to complete assigned projects on time and within budget. The most frequent and essential work activities include:

  • Complete roadway design plans with limited supervision.
  • Work alone and in small groups.
  • Use MicroStation and Inroads/Openroads software.
  • Assist engineers and designers in the development and production of engineering plans and specifications on a variety of transportation projects.
  • Must have excellent verbal and written communication skills along with familiarity with Microsoft Products such as Excel and Outlook.

Qualifications

  • BS in Civil Engineering
  • 5+ years of previous roadway design or other transportation engineering experience
  • GA PE license required (or ability to obtain within 6 months)
  • Knowledge of Microstation and Inroads/Openroads software a plus
  • GDOT and/or Municipal experience preferred
  • Must be willing to travel on occasion
  • Must possess or be able to obtain a valid driver's license prior to employment is preferred

  • Work will primarily be in the office setting with limited opportunities to be exposed to adverse environmental conditions.
  • Work will be primarily working with fingers by picking, pinching, typing, and grasping often with repetitive motion.
  • Must have visual acuity for viewing a computer screen, the ability to talk, hear and sit for extended periods of time.
  • Must be able to carry, lift and push/pull up to 20 pounds frequently and up to 50 pounds occasionally.
  • Weekend and overtime work and/or overnight work and travel may be required.
  • Additional physical duties may be required, as necessary.
