Assistant Water Resources Engineer

Responsibilities

NV5 is seeking a full-time Assistant Water Resources Engineer with 0-2 years of experience to support our Water Resources Teams in our New York City office in Lower Manhattan. NV5's New York City office operates on a four-day work week, hybrid work schedule. Our Site Civil Division specializes in both Public and Private sector projects consisting of grading and drainage design, utility design and site layouts. Our Water Resources Division specializes in stormwater management analysis & design, green infrastructure analysis & design, SWPPP's and MS4 & USWR compliance. This individual will have a key role in a broad range of projects for both our municipal and private sector clients.

Responsibilities

  • Assist with conceptual/planning level tasks such as reviewing historical records, as-builts, utility plates, zoning and feasibility assessments and evaluating soil composition/geological data.
  • Collaborating closely with engineers to prepare complete construction packages (plans, specifications and estimates) for the engineering, procurement and construction of site civil/land development design, green infrastructure design, sewer/sanitary/stormwater infrastructure design using engineering design software (AutoCAD, AutoCAD Civil 3D).
  • Assist with development of a Stormwater Pollution Prevention Plans (SWPPP) in accordance with the rules and regulations of NYCDEP and NYSDEC.
  • Utilizing various design software including ArcGIS for preparing maps and H&H programs such as HEC-RA, SWMM, StormCAD and others for evaluating and designs stormwater management systems.
  • Draft, review, and/or interpret technical reports, specifications and analyses for compliance with local, state, and federal regulations.

Qualifications

  • A Baccalaureate degree in civil engineering, environmental engineering, and/or a related field
  • Experience with Microsoft Excel
  • Knowledge of NY/NYC stormwater management rules and regulations
  • Excellent written, interpersonal, and oral communication skills, and the ability to integrate quantitative and qualitative analyses
  • Ability to support a wide variety of tasks and to work as part of a project team
  • Knowledge of AutoCAD & ArcGIS

Certifications/Licenses:

  • EIT / FE (not required, but a plus)
