Primary Duties & Responsibilities
Safety Systems & HSE Compliance
Partner with HSE, Operations, and Engineering teams to strengthen safety systems aligned with key operational processes, equipment and machinery identified as high risk. Provide technical expertise and guidance regarding applicable HSE regulations, industry recognized standards, and internal policies/directives as part of the Management of Change (MoC) process for key new equipment, proposed engineering controls, and process changes.
Project Execution & Engineering Solutions
Help oversee multi-site safety improvement projects such as: machine guarding upgrades, interlock systems and automation safety enhancements, mechanical lifting and material handling improvements. Collaborate with internal and external engineering teams to evaluate and implement engineered controls. Assist with identifying and managing third-party vendors when needed to support project execution.
Performance Monitoring & Reporting
Assist in analyzing HSE data to identify trends in unsafe practices, tools, equipment and machinery currently in use. Develop and monitor key performance indicators (KPIs) tied to specific safety improvement initiatives. Use data and site feedback to recommend adjustments in priorities and escalate systemic issues.
Continuous Improvement & Standardization
Coordinate with other departments to apply Lean tools (e.g., Gemba walks, 5S, visual management) to improve safety practices. Lead or support efforts to standardize safety processes and simplify tools across facilities. Document and share best practices, templates, and training materials for network-wide use.
Multi-Site Strategy & Collaboration
Utilize a risk-based approach to make recommendations on prioritization of safety engineering support and resources (internal and external). Manage and maintain a centralized library of HSE engineering controls and best practices (documentation and resources).
Education & Experience Qualifications
8+ years of experience in manufacturing, mechanical, chemical or similar engineering field with at least 3 years of experience in an HSE related function. Bachelors degree in an engineering field; Masters degree preferred. Professional Engineer designation preferred. Proven ability to lead initiatives and collaborate across multiple departments in a matrix environment. Strong knowledge of hazard recognition, safety standards, and design of engineering safety controls. Lean or Six Sigma training is a plus. Proficiency with Microsoft Office and basic data tools (Excel, Power BI, Teams). Excellent communication skills, including problem resolution and motivational skills. Understanding of how to read and interpret engineering designs, blueprints, etc. Ability to read shop drawings, SOPs, and other technical documentation.

Factory environment includes exposure to varying temperatures, noise levels, chemicals, and the use of personal protective equipment (PPE).
Comfortable traveling up to 30% to manufacturing locations.
