Pediatric Behavioral Health Peer Support Specialist

Assists in engaging and providing peer support to pediatric behavioral health consumers experiencing psychosis. Collaborates with clinical and non-clinical team members to ensure culture of support is reflected in patient's treatment. Implements and documents individual and group activities geared towards facilitating the rehabilitation and recovery of patient disorders.

Job Responsibility

  1. Helps in assessing patients, and develops rehabilitation and recovery plans to assist patients with transitioning back into community activities including work, school/training, socialization, and independent living.
  2. Assists in providing individual and/or group psychotherapy, as needed; also assists in providing crisis counseling and intervention services, as appropriate.
  3. Supports specialized therapeutic interventions including, but not limited to, Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT), and Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Marriage and Family Counseling and other treatment modalities.
  4. Assists in providing complex care management and linkage to community services and liaises with patient providers for collateral treatment as well as helps in promoting patient compliance and adherence to treatment appointments utilizing relapse prevention techniques.
  5. Provides individuals and group members with the opportunity to engage in activities which promote positive socialized behaviors.
  6. Provides documentation and feedback on patient participation in program and participates in case conferences with other program staff members, treatment team and/or agencies.
  7. Prepares orders for supplies, maintains inventory of program supplies to ensure availability on demand and adheres to patient care standards established by health system, regulatory agencies and funding sources.
  8. Participates in developing and implementing new/revised, approved programs, initiatives, techniques and/or protocols as well as coordinates program and therapeutic group sessions on individual inpatient floors or in the ambulatory programs based on position's area-of-assignment.
  9. May bill (or provide guidance to billing staff) Medicaid, Medicare and private insurance companies for reimbursable services.

Job Qualification

  • Master's Degree required, or equivalent combination of education and related experience.
  • Current License to practice as a Mental Health Counselor (LMHC) in New York State required, plus specialized certifications as needed.
  • 0-1 years of relevant experience, required.
  • Previous experience is a pediatric setting.
  • Ability to commute to Mount Kisco, NY daily.

The salary range for this position is $64,350-$83,500/year.
