The Naval & Oceanic Systems business unit headquartered in Annapolis, MD is seeking dependable individuals willing to work in a collaborative environment and that are interested in expanding their horizons.
The Hardware Engineering Department is seeking a front-line Supervisor to lead one of the SONAR Engineering Groups and the entire Dolphin Works lab administratively.
Responsibilities include functional management of ~12 engineers, coordinating personnel career development and training, workload forecasting, implementation of engineering process improvement initiatives, performance reviews, merit planning, estimating and proposal development, budget and schedule development, technical reviews and recruitment, interviewing and hiring.
In addition, we are looking for someone that will provide technical oversight and execution leadership in the design, analysis, build and test of complex SONAR systems hardware and manage the DolphinWorks sonar innovation lab. This will involve regular interfacing with facilities maintenance teams for physical plant support and campus leadership for sources of internal funding. The candidate will also be required to inform investments and ongoing sustainment of our AEDN (Annapolis Engineering Development Network) ideally as EM (Environment Manager) curating this dedicated network for our Sonar Design and sustainment team in cooperation with ISSE, ISSO and network Admins.
Interfacing with Government Representatives and other contractors in the performance of their daily duties is anticipated. Experience with underwater/naval systems such as Torpedo's, Towed Vehicles, Unmanned Underwater Vehicles (UUV), Remotely Operated Vehicles (ROVs), Acoustic Comms, Sonar Systems, Interfacing with Submarines, etc. is encouraged as duties will also include performing on undersea-domain systems programs.
The successful candidate should have demonstrated experience in multi-disciplinary hardware design and analysis, an understanding of design for manufacturing practices, production engineering, developing engineering processes and procedures and an understanding of engineering's role for supporting small to medium production quantities.
