Northrop Grumman is currently seeking a Principal Systems Engineer to join our team at our Palm Beach Gardens, Florida location to support the Propulsion Systems and Controls (PS&C) business unit.

In this role you will be working to support our Propulsion Systems & Controls Business Unit in developing the digital twin architecture of our solid rocket motor and accompanying motion controls products. Our work is focused on developing component and subsystem propulsion products to support our top-level customers. Our Palm Beach Gardens site focuses on Air Breathing propulsion applications, and related activities. Including Ramjets, Scramets, and related exploratory designs. Our programs offer a unique experience to Systems Engineers, as you will get to experience the full Lifecycle development process from beginning of a program to final test and delivery. We work with many customers from the Navy to the Air Force, as well as multiple private industry partners. The job will require the blending of Systems Engineering Leadership and the utilization of Model Based Systems Engineering tools. You will have the opportunity to help shape how we use MBSE at PS&C, and how our customers use it.

Roles & Responsibilities

• Employ MBSE approaches to developing products using the Systems Modeling Language (SysML), and MBSE resources to capture, maintain, and visualize a product solution within an integrated system model. Used to communicate the design and facilitate automation of integration with other domains.

• Serve as a primary advocate for MBSE application on the program.

• Develop, optimize & demonstrate best practices with modern MBSE processes & standards for incorporation into our programs and site processes.

• Perform technical planning, system design development, verification and validation, cost and risk, and requirements management for our systems.

• Perform functional analysis, requirements allocation and interface definition studies to translate customer requirements into a workable performance specification.

• Creates and manages System Architecture under self-direction using CAMEO.

• Collaborate with Program Managers and Chief Engineers to define SE WBS and develop a schedule of deliverables for Systems Engineering. Work with team to shape MBSE deliverables to the need of contract.

• Act as the primary Systems Engineering liaison between the customer and the program.

• Provide mentorship to Junior Engineers about the Systems Engineering Domain.

• Prepare, present, and lead discussion of system engineering materials during System Requirement Review, System Functional Review, Preliminary Design Review, Critical Design Review and System Verification Review and other formal program reviews.

• Lead development of Systems Engineering activities as required by the program SOW, working closely with Product Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering, Testing, Analysis, and Program Management.

Basic Qualifications:

  • Bachelors degree in STEM plus at least 5 years of experience. Will consider a masters degree in STEM plus at least 3 years of experience or a PhD in STEM plus at least 1 year of experience.
  • Must be able to obtain a secret clearance, US citizenship is a pre-requisite.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Active secret clearance

Primary Level Salary Range: $103,600.00 - $155,400.00The above salary range represents a general guideline; however, Northrop Grumman considers a number of factors when determining base salary offers such as the scope and responsibilities of the position and the candidate's experience, education, skills and current market conditions.Depending on the position, employees may be eligible for overtime, shift differential, and a discretionary bonus in addition to base pay. Annual bonuses are designed to reward individual contributions as well as allow employees to share in company results. Employees in Vice President or Director positions may be eligible for Long Term Incentives. In addition, Northrop Grumman provides a variety of benefits including health insurance coverage, life and disability insurance, savings plan, Company paid holidays and paid time off (PTO) for vacation and/or personal business.
