We are looking for you to join our team as an Engineer Metrology based out of Woodland Hills, CA.

What you'll get to do:

  • Develops and evaluates metrology calibration systems that measure characteristics of objects, substances, or phenomena, such as length, mass, time, temperature, electric current, luminous intensity, and derived units of physical or chemical measure.
  • Identifies magnitude of error sources contributing to uncertainty of results to determine reliability of measurement process in quantitative terms.
  • Develops calibration methods and techniques based on principles of measurement science, technical analysis of measurement problems and accuracy and precision requirements.
  • Maintaining, existing, and developing new in-line defect metrology recipes and techniques for defect inspection and review tools.
  • Assisting with ongoing efforts to integrate in-line defect metrology into our process flows.
  • Writing and maintaining process documentation.
  • Partner with vendors and equipment engineers to drive existing and future tools to meet foundry and program needs.
  • Supporting continuous improvement efforts, and the management and dissemination of metrology data.

The ideal candidate must have an understanding of metrology (Oscilloscope, temperature devices, calibrator, Analyzer etc…) or analytical tools, collaborate in a team environment, prioritize and adjust tasks simultaneously to accomplish the objective results, determine/identify sequence of operations or actions to be taken and follow calibration procedures, able to wear Personal Protective Gear and appropriate safety equipment, able to handle and assemble small parts, and able to frequently move and position objects weighing up to 50 pounds.

Basic Qualifications for the Metrology Engineer:

  • Bachelors degree in Electrical Engineering, Materials Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or other related STEM degree with 2 years of experience.
  • Metrology, calibration, electronic, avionic, or mechanical experience.
  • Experience interpreting schematic drawings, trace component failures, and make necessary repairs to non-conformant test equipment.
  • U.S. Citizenship required.
  • Must be able to obtain and maintain a Secret clearance.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience with metrology or analytical tools.
  • Experience in lean manufacturing practices and structured problem-solving methodology.
  • Experience working in a cleanroom setting.
  • Statistical process control experience.
  • Electrical calibration experience.
  • Data analysis and visualization experience.
  • Experience developing technical specifications for equipment procurement.
  • Experience computing, analyzing, and interpreting numerical data for reporting purposes.

Primary Level Salary Range: $81,300.00 - $121,900.00 The above salary range represents a general guideline; however, Northrop Grumman considers a number of factors when determining base salary offers such as the scope and responsibilities of the position and the candidate's experience, education, skills and current market conditions. Depending on the position, employees may be eligible for overtime, shift differential, and a discretionary bonus in addition to base pay. Annual bonuses are designed to reward individual contributions as well as allow employees to share in company results. Employees in Vice President or Director positions may be eligible for Long Term Incentives. In addition, Northrop Grumman provides a variety of benefits including health insurance coverage, life and disability insurance, savings plan, Company paid holidays and paid time off (PTO) for vacation and/or personal business.
