The Alternatives Operations Analyst will oversee the execution of various operational processes in support of Third Party and Proprietary Hedge Fund and Private Asset strategies available to Wealth Management clients via Northern Trust's integration with iCapital Network®.
Responsibilities include coordinating with various vendors and internal NT back-office teams to ensure timely execution of monthly and quarterly operational processes, performing quality control checks to validate accuracy, supporting Wealth Management advisors and investment associates in their use of approved Alternatives solutions, and acting as a key contributor to the development and evolution of Wealth Management's strategic initiatives.
Key tasks:
Operations Oversight
Oversee execution of, and quality check, all operational processes related to the approved Private Investment solutions
Cash activities (Capital calls and distributions)
Monthly hedge fund subscription and redemption processing
Monthly and quarterly NAV updates
Fee setup and maintenance activities
Product Onboarding and Fundraise Support
Lead operational support efforts leading up to and during product fundraises
Collaborate with internal Legal and Compliance teams to finalize and execute legal agreements ahead of product launches
Liaise with iCapital Network in the creation and testing of Subscription workflows within Northern Trust's Alternatives investment portal
Assist IR team in building marketing page along with sample marketing materials (sub doc, LPA, PPM, Fact Sheet etc.)
Produce and maintain product demand metrics and communicate fundraise progress to senior leadership
Front Office Support
Understand and be able to articulate the Northern Trust Wealth Management investment philosophy and help portfolio advisors to utilize alternative investments within client portfolios
Serve as a SME for the Alternatives operational processes (including subscription, redemption, and transfer processes)
Develop and maintain Advisor training materials related to Alternatives and lead national/regional/local training sessions to educate Front Office Partners on sales and post-sale best practices
Assist partners in remediating document issues
Assist partners with maintaining investor profiles
Field ad hoc questions (K-1s, access to portal, etc.)
Product Support
Assist key stakeholders with reporting/data analysis and special projects as required
Ad hoc compliance requirements
Monthly/quarterly data analysis (Product flows, Advisor Utilization, Alts Exposure report, etc.)
Ad hoc executive level report requests
Interact with functional areas across the organization to effectively gather feedback and requirements for key Wealth Management initiatives and support strategic initiatives as necessary
Knowledge and skills:
Knowledge of alternative investment products with an understanding of this asset class fits into a client portfolio of other risk assets
Experience/understanding of wealth management operations across front/middle/back office
Team player capable of successfully delivering upon partner and client needs in a timely fashion
Ability to convey solutions across wide domain of expertise / functions
Ability to develop relationships with various parties at all levels throughout the organization, and maintain positive relationships with investment managers with whom Northern Trust has an external relationship
Excellent oral and written communication skills are required
Well organized, detail oriented and disciplined in approach
High proficiency in Microsoft suite
Qualifications:
5+ years relevant work experience in alternative investments or investment operations is preferred
Salary Range:
$114,500 - 194,700 USD
Salary range is a good faith estimate of base pay.
