The Department of Applied Psychology at Northeastern University invites applications for a 52-week full-time, non-tenure-track open-rank Clinical Professor position focused on strengthening and overseeing clinical training operations across our Counseling Psychology, School Psychology, and Applied Behavior Analysis (ABA) graduate programs. Academic rank will be commensurate with experience.

With growing enrollments, our department seeks a colleague who will lead efforts to ensure regulatory compliance, manage program evaluation and educational assessment, oversee licensure and credentialing processes, coordinate contracts and incentives for site supervisors, maintain accurate placement and site databases, and drive continuous quality improvement in clinical training environments.

This faculty member will also play a role in expanding, coordinating, and evaluating clinical placements and fieldwork sites; ensuring alignment with accreditation standards (APA, MPCAC, NASP, ABAI), certification requirements (BACB), and competency-based training frameworks; and strengthening partnerships with school, community, and healthcare organizations.

This person will collaborate closely with the Director and Assistant Director of Clinical Training (Counseling/School) and the Director of Supervision for ABA Programs to support a cohesive, developmentally sequenced training model for all students.

Responsibilities:

Training Quality, Evaluation, and Compliance

  • Oversee data systems to assess:
    • Supervision quality
    • Site and supervisor effectiveness
    • Student competency progression and licensure readiness
    • Strength and sustainability of partner relationships
  • Analyze and share findings with program leadership and community partners to guide continuous quality improvement.
  • Support licensure and certification processes for graduates (e.g., psychologist licensure pathways, LMHC/LMFT requirements, BCBA fieldwork verification).
  • Contribute to accreditation- and assessment-related activities across programs

Partnership Development & Site Coordination

  • Develop and sustain partnerships with clinical agencies, school districts, hospitals, ABA centers, and behavioral health organizations.
  • Expand and maintain a high-quality placement/site database and monitor capacity based on enrollment needs.
  • Evaluate new and existing sites for alignment with program competencies, accreditation standards, and supervision expectations.
  • Coordinate all partnership agreements, contracts, and site supervisor incentives.

Communication, Teaching, & Service

  • Serve as a liaison among site supervisors, program faculty, and students to support shared expectations and clear communication.
  • Teach courses related to professional practice, supervision, or applied clinical skills (teaching load aligned with operations responsibilities).
  • Engage in departmental and college service and contribute practice-based scholarship (e.g., supervision, competency development, training evaluation).

Qualifications:

Required

  • Doctorate in Counseling Psychology, School Psychology, Clinical Psychology, Applied Behavior Analysis, or closely related field.
  • Licensed or license-eligible psychologist, LMHC, LMFT, LABA, or other relevant credential in Massachusetts (or eligible within 12 months).
  • Experience supervising graduate trainees in clinical, school, or behavioral health settings.
  • Strong communication, collaboration, and organizational skills.

Interested candidates should apply here with a curriculum vita that includes clinical credentials, professional experience, supervision responsibilities, and any relevant scholarly or applied contributions. • Statement of Clinical Training, Partnership, and Operations Experience Please describe your experience related to developing or coordinating clinical placements or fieldwork sites, supervising trainees, or partnering with community agencies, schools, hospitals, or behavioral health organizations. In addition, highlight any experience you have with data collection or evaluation, managing site agreements or contracts, or maintaining systems that support clinical training (e.g., placement databases, licensure tracking, or accreditation requirements). Applicants may not have experience in all areas; please focus on your relevant strengths and your readiness to learn new aspects of this role.
  • Teaching and Mentorship Statement Provide a unified statement that summarizes your instructional and supervision experiences, articulates your teaching philosophy, and outlines your goals for teaching within the Department of Applied Psychology. Non-tenure track faculty members are expected to contribute to applied scholarship that advances clinical training and professional practice; such scholarship may take forms such as case-based writing, supervision-focused inquiry, program evaluation dissemination, or scholarship of clinical teaching.
