Skills and Requirements:
Strong management experience (non-negotiable)
Experience managing multiple teams (3 teams)
Experience managing junior managers (2–3 direct manager reports)
Ability to oversee ~25 total engineers
Backend engineering & platform software development background
Hands-on coding ~20% of the time
Architectural + design experience
Familiar with cloud (AWS), Java (incl. Java 21), Kubernetes, Solr, Kafka, data pipelines, Apache Flink or ETL frameworks
Comfortable working with US + India distributed teams
Must come from mid-sized to large companies (not startup-heavy)
Should actively use AI tools/day-to-day (best practice expectations)
Search technologies background
AI/ML experience (not required)
Data warehousing experience
Experience supporting UK region products
