Our client is a major regional bank undergoing core technology modernizations and seeking a Senior Software Engineer with deep expertise in API engineering, integration patterns, and event-driven architecture. This engineer will execute the design for the next generation of services that sit between legacy mainframe systems and modern distributed platforms.

Role Overview: We are seeking a hands-on Senior Software Engineer with deep expertise in API engineering, integration patterns, and event-driven architecture. This engineer will execute the design for the next generation of services that sit between legacy mainframe systems and modern distributed platforms.

Key Responsibilities:

• Design and build enterprise-grade APIs
• Consolidate legacy system APIs into a single enterprise API
• Implement event-driven patterns and change data capture
• Build a data access layer for legacy modernization
• Serve as a hands-on architect contributing to design and delivery

Ideal Background:

• 8+ years of software engineering experience
• Strong API development and security background
• Java frameworks and TIBCO experience
• API gateway experience (Apigee, Layer7)
• Experience with event streaming tools (Kafka, MQ)
• Experience with mainframe modernization (Hogan a plus)
• Strong distributed systems knowledge
• Banking or deposit platform experience
• Experience with CDC and mainframe offload
