Senior Lead Systems Operations Engineer
Wells Fargo is seeking a Senior Lead Systems Operations Engineer to join the Commercial and Corporate & Investment Banking Technology (CCIBT) organization. This role functions as a Business Site Reliability Engineer (SRE) with enterprise-level influence, driving strategic initiatives across infrastructure platforms. The Senior Lead will serve as a trusted advisor to senior leadership, shaping the reliability strategy, architecture, and operating model for infrastructure platforms supporting business-critical applications. In this role, you will:
- Lead reliability initiatives and influence platform modernization strategies
- Serve as a strategic advisor to senior leadership, translating business needs into technical solutions
- Architect observability, automation, and failover strategies across infrastructure domains
- Define and govern SLIs, SLOs, and error budgets for critical services
- Drive incident response frameworks, root cause analysis, and postmortem practices to reduce MTTR
- Influence target state architecture and operating models for infrastructure reliability
- Collaborate with platform engineering, application teams, and business stakeholders to align reliability goals with service delivery
- Mentor and guide lead engineers and operations teams across the organization
Key Responsibilities:
- Develop and implement enterprise-wide reliability engineering frameworks
- Lead strategic planning for infrastructure operations, migrations, and hybrid cloud adoption
- Architect automation solutions for operational tasks and platform resilience
- Establish governance for observability, telemetry, and incident management practices
- Partner with leadership to define long-term reliability goals and KPIs
Required Qualifications:
- 7+ years of Systems Engineering, Technology Infrastructure domains, or equivalent demonstrated through one or a combination of the following: work experience, training, military experience, education
- 5+ years of experience managing production support and leading cross-functional initiatives
Desired Qualifications:
- Deep understanding of SRE principles and practices.
- Experience with enterprise monitoring and observability platforms (e.g., Splunk, Prometheus, Grafana)
- Expertise in automation tools
- Strong technical expertise, communication, and stakeholder engagement skills

Pay Range: $159,000.00 - $305,000.00
