HR Technician I (S)
The NC Department of Adult Correction is one of the largest state agencies with more than 14,000 employees. It is responsible for safeguarding and preserving lives and property through prevention, protection, and preparation as well as the care, custody, and supervision of all adults sentenced for violating North Carolina laws. This department includes state prisons with custody, healthcare, and facility operations staff as well as probation/parole officers who supervised sentenced people in the community. Other divisions include Administration, Health Services, Rehabilitation & Reentry, Special Operations and the Post-Release Supervision & Parole Commission. We have a mission that matters!
This position is located at Piedmont Correctional Institution in Rowan County, NC, which houses Medium Custody Male Offenders. This position manages and performs all aspects of personnel. Area of responsibilities include overseeing the recruitment process for new hires, promotions, lateral transfers, etc. Handles separations and leave of absences to include FMLA, Short Term Disability, Extended Illness, and Workers Compensation. Serves as the point of contact for facility worker's compensation claims which includes completing and submitting all claims in a timely manner to Third Party Administrator and ensures that the incident is captured on the OSHA Log/Summary. Responsible for overseeing the time entry process for all full-time staff and monitoring time reports/payroll. Ensures time entry completion and policy compliance. Processes requests for ADA and handles Voluntary Shared Leave requests. Processes various types of personnel actions. Oversees file maintenance of personnel files.

If selected for this position, a new salary will be recalculated taking into consideration the quantity of relevant education and experience, funding availability, and internal equity. Based upon these factors, a pay increase MAY result.
Associate's degree, typically in Human Resources from an appropriately accredited institution or relevant field and no years of experience required; or High school or General Educational Development (GED) diploma and 2 years of progressive experience in Human Resources.
