This position is a Supervisory Wildland Firefighter working in Columbia, North Carolina for the US Wildland Fire Service. Responsibilities include using knowledge and expertise as a Fire Operations Specialist to exercise supervision and leadership for fire management activities in fire preparedness, fuels management and prevention, and fire suppression, monitoring, and post-fire.
Duties include supervision and program management, fire suppression, monitoring, and post-fire activities, and fire operations specialist (FOS) duties. Fire preparedness includes leadership and direction to achieve fire response readiness.
Conditions of employment include being a U.S. Citizen or National, suitability for federal employment, direct deposit, drug testing, medical examination, work capacity test for arduous positions, and a valid state driver's license. The position requires wearing an official U.S. Wildland Fire Service uniform and serving a one-year probationary period.
