Supervisory Wildland Firefighter

This position is a Supervisory Wildland Firefighter working in Columbia, North Carolina for the US Wildland Fire Service. Responsibilities include using knowledge and expertise as a Fire Operations Specialist to exercise supervision and leadership for fire management activities in fire preparedness, fuels management and prevention, and fire suppression, monitoring, and post-fire.

Duties include supervision and program management, fire suppression, monitoring, and post-fire activities, and fire operations specialist (FOS) duties. Fire preparedness includes leadership and direction to achieve fire response readiness.

Conditions of employment include being a U.S. Citizen or National, suitability for federal employment, direct deposit, drug testing, medical examination, work capacity test for arduous positions, and a valid state driver's license. The position requires wearing an official U.S. Wildland Fire Service uniform and serving a one-year probationary period.

Qualifications include meeting minimum qualification requirements, such as specialized experience in fire management planning, preparedness activities, and working with various resources and agencies. Physical demands include arduous exertion for protracted periods of time and working in hazardous conditions.

Education requirements include proof of education or a combination of education and experience, with transcripts submitted for evaluation. Foreign education must be evaluated for equivalency.
