Elevate Cybersecurity Engineering at Wells Fargo

Wells Fargo is back in the office collaborating for great outcomes! This is a hybrid position, three days a week in the office. The role is posted in the city where the headcount is needed. There is no Visa transfers or Visa sponsorships for this position. Wells Fargo is seeking a seasoned Principal Engineer to join our Cybersecurity Engineering and Architecture team, supporting the Technology Exposure Management domain. This role is central to delivering enterprise-grade solutions for Application Security, Vulnerability Management, and Patch Management, with a strong focus on SaaS platforms like ServiceNow. As a Principal Engineer, you'll collaborate with architects and cybersecurity leaders to design and guide the implementation of scalable, secure, and resilient solutions. You'll work closely with delivery teams to ensure tools are aligned with strategic objectives, mentor engineers across the organization, and help drive consistency and excellence in how we manage technology exposure. In this role, you will:

  • Act as an advisor and implementor to Engineering and Architecture and Cybersecurity leadership aligned to both Application Security and Vulnerability Management to develop and influence product strategy and technology alignment to that strategy, including roadmaps, modernization and innovation.
  • Lead the technology strategy and resolution of highly complex and unique challenges relating to Application Security and Vulnerability Management, building end-to-end solution designs that entail cross LOB engagement, including Chief Development Office, Infrastructure Patch Management and IT Service Management.
  • Translate advanced technology experience of vulnerability management and remediation, tooling, an in-depth knowledge of cyber security's tactical and strategic business objectives, the enterprise technological environment, the organization structure, and strategic technological opportunities and requirements into technical engineering solutions that will be executed on by the L1 engineering teams aligned to Application Security and Vulnerability Management.
  • Provide vision, direction and expertise to the Cybersecurity E&A Technology Exposure Management leadership and engineering teams to enable implementing innovative and purpose-built solutions for Vulnerability, Patch and Application Security Management.
  • Maintain knowledge of the latest tools and their capabilities in the Application Security and Vulnerability space, including Vulnerability ID and Remediation while leveraging best practices and innovative solutions that enhance cybersecurity operations and provide a competitive advantage to the firm.
  • Strategically engage with all levels of cybersecurity professionals and managers across the enterprise and serve as an expert advisor to senior Engineering and Architecture leaders.
  • Bring technical thought leadership to Vulnerability, Patch and Application Security solutions, provide leadership to existing team of engineers in supporting superior solutions that are rooted in data quality, stability, scalability, and reuse.
  • Support the next level of maturation of cybersecurity's adoption of innovation and modernization, including machine learning, AI and other new capabilities being introduced at the firm.
  • Improve partnership with other CIO teams, especially with the ServiceNow community to foster cross functional engagement and partnership.
  • Bring maturity to Vulnerability, Patch and Application Security engineering teams by supporting upskilling with better talent that can lead, be accountable, and support the team's mission.

Required Qualifications:

  • 7+ years of Engineering experience, or equivalent demonstrated through one or a combination of the following: work experience, training, military experience, education
  • 2+ years of SaaS engineering

Desired Qualifications:

  • ServiceNow Engineering experience, including relevant ServiceNow Certifications
  • Vulnerability and Patch management domain knowledge
  • IT Asset Management domain knowledge
  • Diverse engineering background with proven delivery at scale
