Correctional Food Service Supervisor III (S)

Reporting to the Correctional Food Service Manager, this position is located in the Food Service Department at a multi-custody female correctional facility. This position's responsibilities include, but are not limited to, the following:

  • Providing supervision for Correctional Food Service Officers.
  • Providing oversight of offenders performing large-scale food activities.
  • Supervising the preparation and service of regular and therapeutic diets for the offender population.
  • Planning, directing, and supervising the daily preparation and serving of food to offenders.
  • Daily work includes food preparation, serving, storage, menu planning, menu substitutions, and maintaining sanitation requirements.
  • Performing required recordkeeping.
  • Using computerized food and nutrition systems to prepare and serve daily meals.
  • Conducting employee work appraisals.

Salary Range: $43,267 - $75,718

Effective July 1, 2025, candidates now must meet the minimum qualifications of a position if they have the "Minimum Education and Experience" listed from the OSHR class specification as seen in the next section below. The Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities (KSAs) listed here in this section are now to be used as "Management Preferences" and to be used to screen for the MOST QUALIFIED pool of applicants.

  • Documented experience in sanitation, preparing menus, managing inventory, and/or other large-scale food production.
  • Documented knowledge of large-scale food production and food service activities.
  • Documented supervision of employees and/or inmate workers.

This is an anticipated vacancy. This position is expected to be available on April 1, 2026.

This is a full-time position (40 hours per week) with State Benefits. The selected candidate may be selected to work any shift and will work weekends and holidays to ensure 24/7 staff coverage.

Note to Current State Employees: The salary grade for this position is NC10. State employees are encouraged to apply for positions of interest even if the salary grade is the same as, or lower than, their current position. If selected for this position, a new salary will be recalculated taking into consideration the quantity of relevant education and experience, funding availability, and internal equity. Based upon these factors, a pay increase MAY result.

About Anson Correctional Institution: Anson Correctional Institution houses female offenders in medium and close custody housing units. Anson CI offers a wide variety of educational, vocational, and training programs. Correction Enterprises operates the offender packaging operation at Anson, a partnership with Union Supply Direct through the Prison Industry Enhancement Program (PIE). Family and friends can order a package of goods from a pre-approved shopping list to send to an offender. Orders are packaged by offenders and shipped quarterly.

High School or General Educational Development (GED) diploma AND four years of experience in institutional food preparation and food services, in management of a commercial food service operations, or as a Correctional Officer, or three years as a Correctional Food Service Officer; or an equivalent combination of education and experience.

Necessary Special Qualifications: Must be eligible for certification by the North Carolina Criminal Justice Education & Training Standards Commission.
