As a critical part of the NCCU leadership team, EHS promotes health and safety for students, faculty, staff and visitors to campus. EHS works with university, county and state agencies to ensure compliance with all of the various regulatory bodies that govern health and safety including OSHA, Department of Health and Human Services, Department of Environmental Quality and others through the provision of technical assistance, education and policy making.
The primary purpose of this position is to provide administrative and budget support to the Environmental Health and Safety (EHS) team. Major duties include departmental correspondence, maintaining accurate training and other databases, report writing, taking and distributing minutes, data collection and analysis, verifying and summarizing data, providing purchasing and budget support, and providing overall administrative structure for the Department.
Required knowledge, skills, and abilities include experience with financial budgets including purchasing, reconciliation, etc. Experience adjusting language or terminology to meet the needs of the audience. Experience designing projects and working with minimal supervision. Prioritizing work and meet deadlines. Professional level skills in Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook, and PowerPoint to meet organizational needs. Experience adapting to change and work in a fast-paced environment. Experience following up and through on assignments with minimal supervision. Substantive knowledge of office or work unit procedures, methods, and practices. Demonstrate and apply knowledge in performance of administrative tasks. Experience providing excellent customer service. Compile, assimilate, and organize both printed and electronic information. Experience applying knowledge of data collection, storage, organization, manipulation, and or analysis of data. Exercise judgment, discretion, and negotiation skills in problem situations. Learning, interpreting, and explaining policies, regulations, and programs. Responding to inquiries and coordinate a variety of resources in acquiring and disseminating information. Working collaboratively with diverse groups. Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
Minimum education/experience is a high school diploma or equivalency and one year of related office experience; or equivalent combination of training and experience. Prefer at least an associate's degree, with a focus in business, accounting, or management.
