Engineering Manager For Asset Protection

As the Engineering Manager for Asset Protection, you will lead a team to modernize our asset protection ecosystem. Nordstrom has a complex network of stores, restaurants, and fulfillment centers that have an input into loss prevention at our stores. We are looking for a motivated leader to help build and drive a modernized ecosystem for asset protection. You will build and maintain a team that can consistently deliver quality software and operational excellence.
The ideal candidate will be a self-directed critical thinker, creative problem solver, and committed team player. You will have a bias toward action, prioritizing delivering immediate value to Nordstrom while iteratively building our program for the future. Part of your success will be achieved through forming strong partnerships with business units and technology teams to help guide them by providing vision, strategy, and balancing prioritization to effectively support Store Technology in our environment.
A day in the life…
- Lead and manage a team responsible for a complex platform of asset protection
- Work with product management to define and track KPI aligning with business objectives
- Drive cross-team collaboration to align technical strategy, manage dependencies, and ensure shared prioritization of deliverables
- Enhance organizational vision and strategy to support company goals, with guidance from senior leadership
- Ensure teams have the tools, resources, and information needed to be successful and continuously improve
- Recruit, develop and retain top talent, building motivated teams that deliver high-quality solutions efficiently
- Contribute to architecture, coding, test plans, project planning, deployment, and operations to ensure excellence in execution
- Promote continuous improvement by quantifying customer impact, eliminating waste, increasing productivity, and shortening feedback loops
- Create training opportunities for teams to learn the latest technologies and methodologies
We would love to have you, if you have:
- 7+ years of relevant work experience in software engineering
- 2+ years of experience managing teams
- Bachelor’s degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, Data Science or related experience required
- Proficiency in an Object-Oriented language, such as Java and Spring boot framework
- Knowledge with RESTful architecture and micro services
- Experience with messaging technologies and streaming platform (Kafka/SQS)
- Proficiency with cloud technologies, proficiency with AWS, Kubernetes, Lambda is a plus
- Experience with modern infrastructure tools and pipelines (Gitlab CI/CD, Terraform)
- Test automation experience at all levels (Unit, Integration, Regression, Load)
- Consider how your code behaves in production, focusing on maintainability, testability, and supportability
- Maintain a DevOps mindset, implementing cloud-first strategies while supporting monitoring, alerting, CI/CD pipelines as well as the team’s cloud infrastructure
- Advocate for automation in testing, deployment, and security scanning
- Participate in a scheduled on-call rotation to ensure system reliability and customer satisfaction
- Experience with databases. Familiarity with relational databases is a plus
- SaaS integration experience is a plus

The pay range(s) below has been provided in compliance with state specific laws. Pay ranges may be different for other locations. Pay offers are dependent on the location, as well as job-related knowledge, skills, and experience.
$166,000.00 - $258,000.00 Annual This position may be eligible for performance-based incentives/bonuses. Benefits include 401k, medical/vision/dental/life/disability insurance options, PTO accruals, Holidays, and more. Eligibility requirements may apply based on location, job level, classification, and length of employment.
