FinOps Specialist

Currently we are looking for a FinOps Specialist to join our team in Poland. The FinOps Specialist is responsible for providing strategic guidance and advanced analysis to optimize cloud costs, improve financial accountability, and implement best practices for cloud financial management across the organization.

Your daily responsibilities:

  • FinOps Foundation Framework: Assessing processes (on a high-level), spot obvious gaps and provide recommendations according to FinOps Framework.
  • Cost Optimization: Qualifying and quantifying optimization recommendations, providing value, plan and risks associated with implementing cost optimization activities (AWS or Azure or Google)
  • Data Engineering with BI Reporting: Conducting data analysis in Excel or other tools and visualizing results for customers
  • Building tailored, monthly reporting: Providing reporting with insights (based on data) to influence Customer ecosystem and make sure that value can be delivered. This can be related to helping with operating model, building cost optimization pipeline, tracking savings or allocating costs to proper departments.
  • Collaboration with Hyper-Scalers: Establishing productive partnerships with hyper-scalers for the successful execution of various projects.
  • Pre-/Sales Collaboration: Working closely with pre-/sales teams to enhance cost communication with clients and promote best practices.
  • Automation Initiatives: Driving automation within the team to streamline processes and improve efficiency.

Your key skills:

  • Azure or AWS or Google Cloud Knowledge: Demonstrable proficiency in one of the major cloud services (why they are used and how they work on a high-level)
  • FinOps Native Tools Knowledge: Familiarity with native and external cloud cost management tools for Azure or AWS or Google.
  • Data Engineering basics: Practical experience in utilizing spreadsheets (e.g., Excel), BI and in-depth data analysis (e.g. Excel PowerQuery)
  • Cloud Understanding: In-depth comprehension of cloud services pricing and payment models. This includes understanding Use and Rate Optimisation techniques.
  • Influential Deck Builder: Somebody who is keen to create an impactful report or deck (don't worry - we have templates) to influence Customer or other stakeholders.
  • Initiative Mindset: Ability to ask questions about scope/delivery, make decisions and ask for support if needed.
  • Continuous Learning: A proactive approach to learning new tools and staying abreast of industry trends.
  • Communication Skills: Strong communication skills with an openness to collaborative ideas.
  • Fluent communication skills in English
  • Analytical Tools: Experience with Power BI or other analytical tools.

Skills we'd consider a plus:

  • SQL/Python Proficiency: Ability to utilize SQL and/or Python for extracting and processing data from external sources like S3, Athena, Big Query, Blob Storage or others.
  • FinOps Tools Knowledge: Tooling knowledge for one of the tools like Cloudability, Flexera, CloudHealth or similar.
