Job Summary Applies expert and specialized knowledge of principles, theories, concepts and industry practices to plan, design, modify, or develop facilities, testing, machines, equipment, or processes used in processing or manufacturing products. May also have responsibilities for programming automation and controls systems involving PLC's (programmable logic controllers), HMI's and custom applications for aerospace manufacturing equipment.

Essential Functions & Key Responsibilities Develops solutions to complex and unusual problems that require considerable ingenuity and innovation to make substantial modifications to policies and procedure standards related to plant layout, design and construction. Work is accomplished with only limited direction allowing considerable freedom to act. Analyzes product or equipment specifications and performance requirements to determine designs which can be produced by existing manufacturing or processing facilities and methods. Plans utilization of space and facilities for company consistent with requirements of organizational efficiency, and available facilities and funds. Analyzes engineering proposals, process requirements, and related technical data pertaining to industrial machinery and equipment design. Determines feasibility of designing new plant equipment or modifying existing facilities considering costs, available space, time limitations, company planning, and other technical and economic factors. Plans, directs, and manages all phases of facilities modification and building projects from establishment of design concepts through design and implementation. Ensures project requirements are defined, contract and contract changes are negotiated, operating budgets established, and financial terms/conditions of contract are identified. Acts as primary contact for facilities project activities and leads project reviews of cost, schedule and technical performance. Establishes milestones and monitors adherence to master plans, budgets, and schedules. Identifies problems and develops solutions, such as allocation of resources or changing project scope. Acts as key member to strategic bid teams via process flow mapping, conceptual layouts, equipment design, cost estimating and schedule development; ensures timely estimates from vendors to solidify high fidelity ROMs (rough order of magnitude). Performs other duties as required. These duties may include assignments in job classifications and departments other than the primary assignment.

Minimum Qualifications - Education RequirementsMinimum 4 Year / Bachelors Degree. Engineering. If applicable, a combination of experience and training may be substituted for the education requirement. Experience Requirements8 or more year(s) Related experience and training. Experience with controls systems reading and programming.

Skills and CompetenciesCommunicates effectively using electronic media and in written and verbal forms. Makes telephone and direct personal contact with internal and external personnel and makes formal presentations to small or large groups. Operates standard office equipment and demonstrates competence in the use of standard software applications such as Microsoft Word, Excel and Power Point.

Physical Requirements - Physical RequirementsMust be able to work in excess of eight (8) hours per day and five (5) days per week, if required. Additionally, those who work at NORDAM Repair Division must be able to ascend and descend stairs. Work Environment - Work Environment While performing the duties of this job, the Stakeholder is occasionally exposed to moving mechanical parts, fumes or airborne particles, toxic or caustic chemicals, and outside weather conditions. The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate.

Supervision - SupervisionWorks under general and limited direction. Receives guidance as to results expected and may receive guidance in resolving complex problems. Exercises latitude in determining activities and approaches within wide parameters.
